Title: Old machines still in use
Post by: sledworks on December 05, 2012, 07:54:14 am
Our customers enjoy our vintage beverage area. We still collect "empties" from Catawissa Bottling located in Catawissa, PA as they are one of the few bottlers left in the country that truly recycle and re-use. Most of their bottles are decades old, from defunct soda companies. They have both 7 oz and 12 oz sizes in several flavors. Even some old quart bottles.

How very cool.  In regards to RC cola, I live in Raleigh, NC and have been to West Jefferson and they carry a very nice selection of soda in long neck glass bottles ($15 per case).  Here is a link to what they carry:

Old Sled Works has been in biz for almost 22 years. Located 15 miles northwest of Harrisburg, PA...not too far from Hershey. 30,000 sq ft old factory building. Multi-dealer mall. Antiques, crafts, company sled museum, 50's soda fountain (open weekends), working penny arcade.

More info at www.sledworks.com and my new venture at www.papicks.com

Our lobby beverage area gets a lot of use. Young people today don't remember old school glass bottled soda. I've witnessed some of them try to pry off the bottle cap in the coin return. (Not even familiar with bottle openers.)

Catawissa Bottling delivers to us their root beer, birch, sarsaparilla, cherry, lemon, lime, orange, cream and Moxie. We also have 8oz Coke, Mexican Coke, Sprite, Fanta Orange and Pepsi that we get through a local grocery store that orders it special for me.

briandr1....These folks had Dr Pepper at one time (I had a couple 6 packs) but seem to be out.
