Title: VMC 88 Pepsi Sold on Ebay
Post by: BONOVOX on November 07, 2012, 04:53:04 pm
I was watching this auction out of curiosity, and was surprised at what it sold for.
It ended up selling for $ 4101 today!
It does look like a nice shape original... has a couple of more decals than what I would prefer,  but still nice shape.

But the price! wow.

See, keep in mind if someone here would have asked how much it was worth we all would have heard $1,000-$1,500, right? e-bay is a different market, like it or not.

Again, proof that nice originals are the best investment!

Wow.. I had and sold one about 3 years ago.. was pretty close to that in condition... Oh well
Doesn't the machine look smaller with the woman standing beside it... she makes it look like a RT56 in size...

Before we all do a victory lap, can anyone confirm that the deal really closed at over $4000?  I know people that establish false pricing on e-bay in order to sell thing's at inflated prices.  I do not believe this is legitimate.

Let me know if I am wrong

I doubt it will be verified unless someone on here bought it.
It does not appear to have any shill bidding though.

Victory lap? Unless it's my machine which it is not I can care less what it sold for even though I'm surprised. Buyer has over 500 feedbacks so does seem legit.

Some people pay sticker price for a new car, others overpay for a Pepsi 88, go figure.

I have over 700 and I.... Um... well, Lets just say just because he is over 500 doesn't mean much more then he may know some tricks because he has been doing it a long time!

The better way to see if there is shill bidding going on... Look at his completed and the sold items in his feedback. If he seems to ALWAYS get premium money, flag. If he EVER re-lists the same item AFTER it sold, Flag. One flag, no big deal, more than one, RUN!

Ebay is a market and very easily manipulated. Its not an auction, if it were the last bid could not be timed. If someone put a bid in, then it should extend the real time auction to allow legitimate bidders to bid.
