Title: Coming along with my v110 Post by: on September 24, 2004, 06:50:24 pm What kind of putty can I use to fill in the bottom of the tank that will work well with powder coat?
And I don't think i've had SOO much fun working on something then this machine... Can't want to finish it... Also I maybe have got myself a 56 model! For free! And it's in not too bad condition.. with a Can vend! Title: Coming along with my v110 Post by: johnieG on September 24, 2004, 08:15:30 pm Aa-Aa-Aa, with rust-thru that severe, you're not going to try to just bondo it over are you!?, ( powder coating is baked on at about 400-degree in an oven, it melts the "powder" [actually a powdered thermoplastic/resin] into a liquid state that then flows together & solidifies once cooled) & any "bondo" will probably fail, you'd might wish to at least have a sheet metal dude bend up a bottom pan that'll slide into and over the rusted out bottom of your tank, you can tack-weld it into place & place the drain hole where you'll need it, then ship it off to the powder-coating, the coating will flow into the edge & help seal the new "pan" to the sides of the liner, it'll be cheaper than a bending up a whole new Tank & better than just pop-riviting a piece of sheet metal over the damage....
