Title: Need Help with a Popcorn Sez Post by: jbrumett on October 26, 2012, 10:49:01 am Purchased a Popcorn Sez one the other day know that it is 100% complete but the motor does not work on it. Took it to an motor shop and know nothing about it. Anyone know where I might get a replacement motor for this thing. Anyone sell parts...I hear they are hard to come by. Also, anyone have any internal pictures they might be able to share.

Title: Re: Need Help with a Popcorn Sez Post by: johnieG on October 29, 2012, 07:42:59 pm Looks like some frayed wiring there, I'd look up a sewing machine repair shop, it's very very similar to an early Sewing machine motor, at least they may be able to rewire it maybe if it's onlt the lead-in wires and not a fried winding.

Thanks for the info. My father took it to a guy he knows and said he couldn't work on it. I know a shop that's been in business close to me for over 30 years and I'm sure they can help. If not, is there a website I could go to that might have a replacement or at least something similar to work with? An old time motor guy should be able to fix anything inside.
If not, check with WW Graingers, they specialize in motors. If you call them with the numbers from your motor, you might get lucky. I have a few of the Popcorn Sez machines..and I went through the motors on both of them.. If the windings are good in the motor then a basic rewire and lub you should be good to go..lol.. How is the rest of the machine?

Do you have any pictures of the motor, warmer, and other internals to help me see how this should look restored? Thanks for the info!!!! |
