Title: Veep!
Post by: jholmgren on October 13, 2012, 09:07:29 pm
Spent Friday at the Hershey Antique Auto show, wow...SO many cool things.   Saw an RC 81, priced to move at $12,500.00 !   :Oo:

Missed out on what I thought was a pretty cool sign for Veep.  Apparently a New York area precursor to Sprite.   I saw the sign in the morning at one end of the field but by the time we got back around the people had packed up and left.

Here's a picture of the "one that got away"...

Hi Dan - yeah, it was pretty rough - that's why it took me most of the day to decide to get it, too late as it turns out.  Probably for the best in the end, I was just really curious as I had never heard of Veep - and I think it's a great 50's-60's sounding name for a beverage.   Sound like something the Jetsons would have drank.

I think I could have had it for $125, maybe $100.  They had it tagged at $175 (everything at Hershey was REALLY expensive, especially signs) but came down to $150 without me even asking.

I have a Veep sign. I've seen a couple different versions, plus a palm push. Even at $100 I think you're just fine missing out on it.

How early did they pack up? I've noticed that at some shows, including Hershey when we went a few years ago, some people pack up pretty early.

You didn't happen to get a contact info for the guy with the RC 81 did you? I'm assuming it's restored already..

I have a buyer looking for one and $$$ is not really issue here so just trying to find one so we can deal a bit...

Hey John,
Yeah - it was fully restored.   Unfortunately, I didn't think to grab one of his cards - sorry!

I looked online but couldn't find a list of vendors for the show.  If I come across it, I'll let you know!
