Title: My favorite possession! Post by: collecture on October 06, 2012, 10:43:21 am I thought this would be an interesting topic for everybody to add to.
I, like a lot of you, am attracted to pretty much anything I think is kind of cool. This can be a car, soda machine, clothing or a toy. My fav is a toy. My parents bought it for me as a young child and kept it for me. It is copyrighted 1960 (the year I was born) and now sits on top of my bar in my gameroom. Each block has four different designs, so many faces can be constructed - bald, hat, with cigarette, with pipe, black eyes, etc. What is your favorite possession? Title: Re: My favorite possession! Friends usually makes a face when visiting and the kids love to change it up. I did a little research and the name of it is Changeable Charlie. Ebay has quite a few. No one has a cool little item to share that they treasure , but has no great monetary value! OK - another fav! 1958/1966 Snoopy bobble head - repaired head - missing chip. Post by: scalebowler on October 09, 2012, 01:04:23 am I would have to say one of my favorite possessions are my drive-in speakers. I picked them up on vacation to Kansas City Missouri while visiting the I-70 drive-in and over the next couple of years I went back and got a tour of the projection booth, watched powerlines explode during a thunderstorm (had to go back the next day to see how the movie ended) and bought a junction box from them on the third visit. Cool thing too was each time I was there the guy remembered me. Really glad I was able to visit that theater and have such a great time since this year is most likely going to be their last as they can't afford digital projection.

Just back from camping. I've got two. One is a "Crow Shoot" game that has a spring driven corkgun. You shoot the crows off a wire. Other is a battleship and submarine. The battleship has a mousetrap assembly in the hull with a button on the outside. Arm the mousetrap, stack the deck and two smoke stacks and two gun turrents. The submarine has a spring driven dowel torpedo that when you hit the button on the battleship, mousetrap trips and deck etc. flys off. Will get pics at least Tue. and try for vid. Great thread ! I think it's pretty neat and I haven't seen another one like it. Sorry about the pic I had a hard time getting a good shot at it.

It was 2 red plastic/glass balls about the size of pool cue balls, and they were held together by a thin rope. One red ball banged into the other red ball when you lifted the rope and swung it like a pendulum. With enough bounces back and forth, the 2 balls would bang into each other at the 6 o'clock position and then at 12 o'clock, making a knocking noise. They got pulled from the market in the 70's as kids got them banging together so fast, that eventually the balls would shatter and plastic/glass would go flying.

I recall them as Klackers as well - remember shattering a few too! I like the Crow Shoot game Creighton! Battleship is unique as well - is that all there is or are there more ships to the set? Post by: briandr1 on October 09, 2012, 08:49:52 pm my kids have those klackers and they drive me crazy wirh them, My favorite possrsion isnt old its my yamaha maple custom drum set they are about twenty years old and still look brand new, not bad for the hunderds of gigs ive played with them. my other would be my harley davidson but I sold it two years ago when I learned the third baby was on the way. I shure miss it. :darn:

Post by: BrianS on October 09, 2012, 10:12:16 pm I have had this since I was 8 yrs old and my parents got it for me so it could hang from the ceiling in my room and let me have a light I could turn on from my top bunk bed. I have never been a hockey fan, but always thought the light was cool. The logo and hockey players are raised off the lamp almost like they were put on with a puff paint of some type. For this forum I'll just call them embossed :biggrin:. There is no trademark or mfg mark of any kind so I have no idea where it came from. Probably just a Kmart or even a garage sale item as my parents have no idea where they got it. The hanging chain just screams '70s.

Doubt there were more. Box is long gone sadly. Haven't found out much about it but haven't really looked. Both date to the late 30's. They were dads. Knowing that I could play with these was one thing to look forward to when getting hauled off to the grandparents for holidays and such:-) Have all of the materials to make a clone just hasn't happened yet. Post by: halehouse on October 11, 2012, 01:02:41 pm I have a Lionel set that my dad gave me. It was his as a kid. The engine and tender are Illinois Central trains. I don't think they were supposed to pull passenger cars, but that's the combo he wanted. The passenger cars are silver and have names like Silver Cloud, Silver Range, etc. I'm visiting him now, as he is losing his battle with cancer. So in the moment, the train and believe it or not, my Cornelius slider that he helped me restore a few years ago, are my favorites.
