Title: Vf 56 coin mech/ coin acceptor question. Post by: Gearheadsodajerk66 on September 17, 2012, 05:09:54 pm Hello again , I have a question. I've got a 1962 vf 56 "square top" in Faygo colors. The coin mech. seems to be a later model than many of the ones i've seen in other posts. It's made out of a tan plastic(kinda like bakelite) rather than the zinc plated steel mechs i've seen in other people's machines. It's connected with a 8 pin rectangular connecter with a guide pin in the center/bottom part of the plug. Question 1 : does anyone work on these type accepters/ mechs. and if not, 2: is it possible to retrofit an older type coin mech into my machine?

I have a Faygo transitional 81. Now I need the Bel Air in matching turquoise. Sounds like you may a candidate for the Michigan Mafia 8) Title: Re: Vf 56 coin mech/ coin acceptor question. Post by: jholmgren on September 17, 2012, 07:29:28 pm Sounds like you have a CoinCo of some variety. I have one in my CS-96e.
The connector is a Jones Plug, seems to be the defacto standard. Johnie G has worked on two of mine and they both vend like new, I can highly recommend his work. I'm sure Collecture does fine work as well. Jim Title: Re: Vf 56 coin mech/ coin acceptor question. Title: Re: Vf 56 coin mech/ coin acceptor question. Post by: tkaz on September 17, 2012, 08:36:50 pm I'd guess the coin mechanism is a Coinco, check the sides for a label, you should see a number that is S75-9800 (A or B).
They aren't that hard to work on, you can get a manual from the main page of this site. What's wrong with it, rejecting all the coins? You can clean the top section with soap and water after removing it from the rest of the mech, they get gummed up over the years and sometimes need a little cleaning.
