Title: Gumball Machines Post by: jbrooks on September 04, 2012, 03:18:57 pm Couldnt pass up the deal on these 2 machines today, the plan is to retheme one of them to match my Gulf gas pump and do Pepsi on the other since my wife is a Pepsi fan.
Anyone know of off the shelf spray paints that are a close match for these brands? Title: Re: Gumball Machines Post by: Kilroy on September 04, 2012, 05:41:55 pm If you have a swatch of both colors, a paint shop can match, and put it in a rattle can.
I like the idea, BTW. Keep us posted Title: Re: Gumball Machines Post by: jbrooks on September 04, 2012, 05:50:58 pm Thanks Kilroy, any idea on how much they will charge per can?
Title: Re: Gumball Machines Post by: jholmgren on September 04, 2012, 06:08:25 pm I had a can of spray made up to match the Delft Blue on my Spitfire so I could paint the firewall after I stripped it. Cost me about $20 if I recall correctly.

Title: Re: Gumball Machines Post by: jbrooks on September 05, 2012, 12:00:19 pm I stripped one machine down yesterday in probably under 2 hours. I dont think I want to invest $60-80 in paint for these, they just arent worth it so I am going to see how high gloss off the shelf spray paint works.
Title: Re: Gumball Machines Post by: davethebirdman on September 05, 2012, 01:39:02 pm That's the way to go.. Wouldn't worry too much about matching paint colours
get some off the shelf that look like coke and pepsi. Was thinking about buying up a few myself... Title: Re: Gumball Machines Post by: jbrooks on September 05, 2012, 02:06:52 pm My head was spinning shopping for decals, there were so many themes and choices. If these two go well I can see retheming these becoming an addiction. I would love to do a Sinclair, Dr. Pepper, Texaco and the list goes on.
Title: Re: Gumball Machines Post by: jbrooks on September 17, 2012, 06:30:10 pm ok, one done, one to go. This was my first attempt at any type of restoration process so be kind. I will probably trim the bottle cap decal on the glass once it dries well, I do not like all the extra white around it. The other gumball machine I am going to do Gulf to match my gas pump.
I am hoping to build some confidence and move on to bigger projects Title: Re: Gumball Machines Post by: jbrooks on September 17, 2012, 06:37:09 pm ok, one done, one to go.
