Welcome to the site Bill. I see you have been bitten by the same bug as the rest of us, just can't say no to these cool old machines.
Really like the way you are documenting this machine and your junior. You will be greatful way into the future too.
Since you asked for suggestions, I thought I would post a pic of a VMC 44 I bought 2 weeks ago. I have tried to sell this style 44, before but people would always express their displeasure with the plain looking coin entry as compared to it's twin sister the Vendo 44.
As an experiment, I made up an aluminum faceplate and used a Vendo 44 instruction decal. It doesn't look nearly as nice as the real Vendo but it is only secured by adhesive so no holes drilled, and can be removed at any time. The picture at the bottom is a real V-44 bezel.

I've never paid much attention, but now that I look at the VMC, I wouldn't kick it out the back of a trailer...

Thanks for the welcome, I really like your faceplate idea, that is one thing that has been on my mind, is what to do with that "plane no frills look space", great job with that, I was thinking originally of maybe a pinstripe outline around that whole door to just break it up a little....will be awhile before I get to that point,  I'll have plenty of time to think on what to do with that area lol

I don't think I've ever really looked at the solid red 44 before. They are quite appealing.
I guess from a resale point the two tone way would be best. But there is something nice about
all red.
