Title: Restoring a machine
Post by: on September 07, 2004, 11:24:35 pm
Well I'm very happy to have my machine and I'm looking forward to the start of getting it pretty again... first off...

What is the general rule for restoring one?  Do you keep the insides in the metal or is it best to powder coat it?  Or just make new ones?

I'm pretty sure I can get parts from Soda Jerk Works, but is there any other places to go?

General rule of thumb?  DO this DON'T do that?

I have a CoinCo coin changer but it seems to not trip the little motor to release the bottles...  is there a way to check to see if the motor is just dead?  setting it up on a voltameter?

Thanks... I will listen and learn :)

To bypass the coin mechanism try setting up a free-play switch.  It's easy to wire up - look at the first post in the "Coin Mechanisms" forum.

Good luck,
Bob

The ID tag says...  VF110B-A...  From Vendorlator

I think I'll call the Soda Jerk guys and see what that can help me with... Cuz I know I'll need a few things...

Trinitron79,
While you're posting photos, can you add a wide shot of the front of the machine?
Thanks.

I'll try and get a pic of the front in a few days...

So I have started the gutting of the machine...

So far not TOO bad...  some pics and questions now :)

Inside with tank and insulation removed...  LOTS of rust on the bottom... So bad it has a hole to the compressor area...

How to fix?  cut it all out and weld in new bottom?

The tank wasn't in too bad of shape.. the only rush was on the bottom and it really wasn't too bad...

Next Post...

More pics...

The compressor and chiller are in pretty good shape...  Just need to clean up, replace motors and wire harness...

The hard line is solid... there is no little valve or anything from the R12 drum to the chiller.

Any ideas on anything?  I figure the more you all know / see the better help I can get... And I figure it might be fun to watch the progress...
