Title: Newbie from South Texas Post by: buzz4041 on August 15, 2012, 04:54:17 am Hi I just ran across this site. Looks to be a very knowledgeable crowd here. I have a couple machines (vmc33 7UP original and a vmc81 7UP original. I enjoy hot rods (1940 Fords) and other old collectibles. Unfortunately work carries me all over the world most of the time so I don't get a lot of time to enjoy them but when I do I cherish the time at home in the shop. Nice site you have here and look forward to reading more from the pros.

Title: Re: Newbie from South Texas Post by: mygoose101 on August 15, 2012, 08:46:59 pm I don't think it is fair for your 1st post should include pictures of machines we all here would want to own. Now that I got that off my chest, welcome. That 7UP 81 is very, very nice. True survivor.

Title: Re: Newbie from South Texas Post by: buzz4041 on August 16, 2012, 12:10:58 am Really nice machine love the 7up vmc 81 how long did you have this ? Thanks for the warm welcome all.I have only had the 81 for a month or so. It is going in for a full restoration as we speak. When it is done I will then have the 33 in for restoration. Love the look of the VMC "It likes you" machine............very nice. Welcome aboard buzz !! Yes I agree with you I love this little machine but needed to be able to vend various flavors around the house so picked up the 81 after searching for ever.Welcome Buzz! No I got one in Ohio and one in fForida. No luck in my searches in Texas. They both took some serious negotiating but I am happy with my purchases and the rarity of these 2 machines were my motivation along with 7UP being my drink of choice. Two machines I'd like to have in my collection. I spent 4 years in Del Rio, TX but moved across the border to New Mexico a couple years ago. Love the old Fords as well. Went through Del Rio on my way to LA roadster show last year in my Coupe. Talk about being on the boarder. I thought Corpus was close hahaTitle: Re: Newbie from South Texas Post by: BONOVOX on August 16, 2012, 06:54:18 am Is that 81 7up the one that was on Ebay for a long time, from Carl (I think that's his name) in Ohio? He restors machines as well.

He restors machines as well. Yes it is and we negotiated for a long time as the BIN just wasn't going to happen. I am real happy with our deal and Carl is to. He is going to do the restoration on it for me also. :happydrinkers: Title: Re: Newbie from South Texas Post by: Kilroy on August 16, 2012, 08:06:19 am Carl does do nice work. I think you will be very happy
Title: Re: Newbie from South Texas Post by: buzz4041 on August 16, 2012, 08:09:12 am Thanks for the encouraging words. My dealings with Carl have been great so far. We are going white just like original on the restoration.
Title: Re: Newbie from South Texas Post by: MoonDawg on August 16, 2012, 10:00:40 am As stated before, those are two nice originals. The reason you are getting so many compliments from members here, is that we all appreciate a well cared for machine as it just glows with history. We envy both your finds.
If you had posted pictures of the same 2 machines after restoration........ well let's just say we see pictures of restored machines all the time, so yours would be no different. In other words, it's is only original once and machines similar to yours usually always demand a restoration. That being said, they are your machines and will look great restored, especially if they are going to be inside the house. Welcome to the group and keep us posted. Title: Re: Newbie from South Texas Post by: BONOVOX on August 16, 2012, 10:05:22 am I agree with the above... but at least he's doing the all white resto.
Sometimes too machines look better on a picture than in person, and if a machine is to go in a beautiful rec room, or family room, having it in it's natural state usually does not fly with the mrs. of this board lol. :happydrinkers: Title: Re: Newbie from South Texas Post by: Slider-Bob on August 16, 2012, 12:49:41 pm Amen Bonovox...Truer words could not be said about what the Mrs. wants.

JK, I'm banned from anywhere but my mantown and garage, but I can live with that! Title: Re: Newbie from South Texas Post by: buzz4041 on August 16, 2012, 02:31:02 pm I hear you on the Mrs. I asked to put them on the patio and she said they go in the shop. So I guessing is time to build another one to store the finished cars and other toys. Can't be welding and grinding around these things
Title: Re: Newbie from South Texas Post by: BONOVOX on August 16, 2012, 03:09:08 pm I'm pusing my limits as it is alredy..... I have 9 machines in the finished basement.... with a Victor 31 as a bar, and 3 110's still to come lol.... after each one I kept saying it would be the last.... but you know what... they all work where I have them, and when people come over they LOVE to look and talk about them. Who needs furnture when you can have embossed fridges?!?
:happydrinkers: Title: Re: Newbie from South Texas Post by: mygoose101 on August 16, 2012, 07:53:52 pm Please don't all you jump on me for asking but isn't that 81 just too nice to restore?
Title: Re: Newbie from South Texas Post by: Eric on August 16, 2012, 09:27:10 pm Yeah would like to see it using that cleaner Glen was talking about and a buffer... From the picture I
would think it's a nice survivor and would leave as is.. but thats me... Title: Re: Newbie from South Texas Post by: MaineT on August 17, 2012, 12:07:47 pm http://jacksontn.craigslist.org/atq/3210104127.html
This might fit in your collection, says its embossed. Title: Re: Newbie from South Texas Post by: buzz4041 on August 22, 2012, 03:42:54 am http://jacksontn.craigslist.org/atq/3210104127.html Thanks for the link but I had better wait on my restoration before I dip into another one. I don't need the Mrs. angry :oops:This might fit in your collection, says its embossed. Title: Re: Newbie from South Texas Post by: mygoose101 on August 22, 2012, 09:50:22 am Ah, just get it, they get over it, eventually.
Title: Re: Newbie from South Texas Post by: Bigfoot on September 02, 2012, 08:34:12 am Please don't all you jump on me for asking but isn't that 81 just too nice to restore? I was gonna add a thought like that. If those pieces are in original condition it would be a shame to restore them. Like another member noted,...they are yours,..but I'd keep the idea bouncing around anyway. I often see people take rust free muscle cars still wearing original paint and fully restore them and it makes me wonder why. But hey,...whatever you do,...it's still cool. Title: Re: Newbie from South Texas Post by: buzz4041 on September 03, 2012, 12:07:09 pm Yea I figured I would hear the crowd against the restoration Oh well the 81 is in much worse shape than the 33 and deserves to be brought back to it's former glory. It will be with me for a long time so I will enjoy it in its pristine state and be reliable for a long time. When i modified my original 40 fords I heard the same thing. I have thick skin so no problem. Most will appreciate when a machine of any kind is given proper attention to detail and brought back to life correctly.
Title: Re: Newbie from South Texas Post by: mygoose101 on September 03, 2012, 01:09:46 pm No one here is against anything when it comes to members machines so just enjoy it and please post pictures when done, I'm sure everyone here will agree you did the right thing when done. I wish I had that decision to make, do I restore my VMC 7up 81?
