Title: Advice needed on machine....one more time Post by: davin72 on July 31, 2012, 10:42:45 am So Im heading up near Dallas tomorrow and Im thinking about stopping and looking at this machine. Can you guys tell me what to look for. He also has this on ebay and in that add he clearly says it doesnt cool. Ive been wanting a machine like this or a USS-64 because of its versitility. Im sure I can get him down on the price a little but wanted to get some ideas from you guys.

Title: Re: Advice needed on machine....one more time Post by: Kaleid20 on July 31, 2012, 11:48:35 am I wouldn't spend more then $250 on that machine. It's BIG and heavy, and doesn't cool. It does look to be in pretty good condition though, so that's a plus. I'd hold out for a 64 if I were you, but that's just me.
If you have to get a 96, go get this one instead: http://dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/ppd/3164714335.html Title: Re: Advice needed on machine....one more time Post by: tkaz on July 31, 2012, 11:53:38 am Oh yeah, go get that second one if you want a big and versatile machine. Looks like both of them don't have light up signs, but that can be swapped out.
I'd recommend pulling out the shelves and vending rack if you're going to move it, that should help out with the weight and doesn't take much time. For the $120 one, if you can come in under $100 you're in good shape. And another option to consider with the 96 is that if you can find a 64 with cooling problems, you can swap out the cooling deck and shelves from the 96 and be way under the cost of a replacement deck. I say this because it's exactly what I did! Title: Re: Advice needed on machine....one more time Post by: davin72 on July 31, 2012, 12:06:01 pm The one good thing about the one I posted is that im going to Cleburne Tx in the morning (from Austin area) for work and will be right down the road from where it sits. Im for sure going to go look at it and see how far down on price I could get him. True id like to have a 64 but this 96 looks pretty nice too. If the compressor worked id be all over it. If I cant get him down in price ill wait a couple of weeks till I can get up farther into Dallas so I can get a 64. There are some up there but just wish I could find one closer to home.

Davin I guarantee one of those will pop up in your area (Austin\SA) eventually. They pop up occasionally in Houston. If you aren't able to get that one in Dallas, I can keep a look out in Houston. I'm happy to assist in procuring\storing it until you were able to get over here. Hoping to find one before the 17th of August cause the little woman is leaving town so it makes for a good time for me to make a run and pick one up. Thank you.

I have a feeling its been sitting out side for a very long time. That same guy has an add for two other machines that are in rough shape and have been weathered pretty bad. There is this one thats south of San Antonio that looks good but is way over priced. I may see if I can get them to come down on it to a reasonable price and see what happens.

Im gonna go by there on Saturday and look at the Victor he has. If it's just surface rust and minor body work, I may pick it up. Can't beat if for $50. I can look at the 96 for you and see what condition it is in. Title: Re: Advice needed on machine....one more time Post by: davin72 on August 04, 2012, 12:41:53 pm Ok some of you will have a better eye at this then I do but is this a USS or a CS. My guess would be a CS but not sure. Im almost getting lucky on my search for one of these USS-64 models. A few have popped up on CL today but the bad part is is that none of them are working and are saying the compressors are bad. Im getting closer tho.

Title: Re: Advice needed on machine....one more time Post by: davin72 on August 04, 2012, 12:53:51 pm Oh dont get me wrong I knew the price was to high im just trying to learn the little things on identifying machines. Had I been able to see into the door I would have been able to tell right away. Thanks for your help.
