Title: Continuos vending Post by: Bob K on August 30, 2004, 07:54:34 am Hi folks:
My Westinghouse WC-78-MD arrived the other day. When I originally plugged it in, the "Use Correct Change" and "Make Another Selection" lights came on as they should have, since the coin mech and the bottle rack were empty. After putting some nickels in the change tubes and filling one rack with bottles, the lights operated as they should. Wonderful . Marquee lights up fine also, by the way. Now the problem: Suddenly both above mentioned lights do not work anymore, and the vending mechanism runs continuosly as long as it's plugged in, until it stops when it gets too hot. After it cools and I plug it in again - same thing. Marquee light is working fine through all of this. I tried disconnecting the coin mech and plugging in my free play switch but nothing changes. I don't know if this matters or not, but this machine does not cool - the refrigeration unit doesn't even come on. I bought it knowing this, figuring that could be a later project. This is really bumming me out because I'm not an electrical guy . I would really appreciate any and all advice. Thanks, Bob Title: Continuos vending Post by: johnieG on September 02, 2004, 08:59:23 pm I've got the wiring diagram for a WB60MD select-a-matic
basically the same machine, (only smaller) I'll post a picture of the wiring & I can email you a full size print if you can' read this one... sounds like you have a short somewhere in the carrier switch area, or the vending relay (the machines "stuck" in a vending cycle, that's why the free-play switch didn't make a difference, see!? your already hot on the trail & you didn't even know it!) just follow the wiring paths & see whats workin & whats not, & you can unplug ( temporarly) the harness from the carrier switch & see if that "kills" the vend-cycle.... here you go...hope it helps! Title: Continuos vending Post by: ussexplorer on September 03, 2004, 12:49:22 am I noticed you have a vend relay. Unplug that and see what happens. I know sometimes old relays get stuck. You can also trace the wires out and make sure they messed up somewhere. I had a reel to reel with a stuck relay. Replaced that and it worked fine. Luckly it was easy to tell. I was tapping on the differnt parts and the relay clicked into place. Wish all fixes was that simple.

I'll be tinkering and tapping this weekend . Bob Title: Continuos vending Post by: Bob K on September 13, 2004, 12:26:02 pm Just in case any other Westinghouse Multi-Drink owners run into this problem:
My continuous vend problem was caused by the carrier switch not being positioned correctly. I noticed that the little arm on the switch was not depressing the switch button. I moved the switch a couple of times and it vends perfectly now . If that switch is not positioned EXACTLY correct, it will cause problems. Bob |
