Title: Vendo 80 value?
Post by: Kaleid20 on June 29, 2012, 11:54:30 am
Guys, here's a solid original V-80. Ive never really done my homework on this particular machine. Whats a fair price on a V80 in this condition?

He wants $1500. Stated he would've asked $2000, but the compressor runs but doesn't cool. So nothing to see here but the usual nonsense. I just tried to get off the phone with him as quickly as possible.

Yet, the ad reads, "Is in great working condition and keeps ice cold!"  Did you ask him why he put that in there?

Nah, I just dont put up with this crap anymore. I just bailed immediately. He wanted to give me a long history on the machine and how he read somewhere this machine is worth $3800...blah blah blah..pretty much where I checked out.

I just bought mine - nice working (cools/vends/coin mech works) machine - for $400 as shown in my profile picture, but I think I got a darn good deal.

I think $600-ish is a fair price for a 100% working unit.

Compressor not working?  I would pass completely - unless it's somewhere around $200 and I have access to someone to fix the compressor on the cheap.   It's not an 81!    :Oo:

Shame...this machine is in really good condition. I would probably do $650, but I'm not haggling with some yokel who thinks hes sitting on the Mona Lisa. Said he had 2 guys coming out to look at the machine. Kudos to him if he's gets his asking price.

Well - you can always do the old "Here's my price and my number" routine.   It does look to be in good condition, but I would be wary of the ad saying it is ice cold and the seller telling you otherwise.

I really do like my V80, I like the look.  It is also much more quiet than my newer CS-96e, but it is a single-vend which is a bit of a downer.   I do think it's cool that it has no knobs or buttons.  Drop your dime in and out comes your Coke.  I love the mechanics of these older machines.  You would also need shims to enable it to vend the 'modern' 8 oz Coke bottles, but that is a trivial thing.   I used a $5 sheet of coroplast to make mine in about 10 minutes.

It's also an early first-year model being all red (if it hasn't been repainted) which, oddly enough, I believe are not actually as 'desirable' as the later red and white models.

The machine itself looks very straight but Coke could have chosen about a hundred other places to rivet that I.D. plate......rather than in front at eye level. :darn:
