Title: Lacrosse 136-4
Post by: erogers218 on June 19, 2012, 09:23:29 pm
Need help on compressor info for lacrosse 136-4.

Bought the machine for 40 bucks and wondering if I should buy a new compressor or one that would fit because most parts for this machine are obsolete, repair it, or scrap it.

Thanks.

"Bought the machine for 40 bucks and wondering if I should buy a new compressor or one that would fit because most parts for this machine are obsolete*, repair it, or scrap it."

shot from the hip eh?  :tounge:   Sounds like you had an impulse buy moment,  Seriously though, it depends on your intent,  so are you really are going to keep it because you find it interesting, flip it, or dump it like a cheap date. ( Tsk! no commitment) a new compressor wholesales for around $200 for an R12 1/4HP & double that for basic labor.

Now go get 'em Tex.

*ALL of these machines are obsolete! but they are so addicting! now if you excuse me I have to get back to staring into my VF56 Faygo machines Correct change only light... :wow:

Ok, got another question.  Is there any refrigeration unit/deck that would fit this particular unit.  Is there anything that is universal, if I wanted to replace the deck an compressor?
Thanks

Ok, a deck out of a LaCrosse 90 or 100 models should fit fine, but it will have to be out of a LaCrosse.

I don't know where you are located, but I have one in working condition for sale, but it would have to be shipped if you're not local to southeastern Michigan.

How much am I looking at for a refrigeration deck?  I am located in the northwest suburbs of Illinois, near Chicago.  Is there anywhere near me that would have it?  Would another deck fit, like a vendo or a dixie narco?  All I want is to keep my beer cold...

No,I figure I'm out as I'm obviously not near you, so hopefully someone local can lend a hand in this one,  & like I said, you'll need one out of a LaCrosse, as a Vendo or D/N deck won't typically fit they are too tall or to wide ( the evaporators) you could splice one of those compressor decks onto the existing evaporator so long as they are R12 systems, but from what I'm gathering, you don't have that option available & I appreciate that your trying to do it on the cheap. so if you're interested in my LaCrosse refrigeration deck, I'm asking $200. but you'll have to pay for shipping. There are several members around the Chicago land area, hopefully they'll chip in here.

Thank you for your advice an help.  I might take you up on that offer after I explore ebay and craigslist to see if there is anything local.  Thanks.

Well this may help I'm heading to Chicago next Saturday morning (6-30-12 )  to deliver a machine I could bring it to Chicago, and you could meet me where I'm doing the drop off of this machine I've restored.
Johnie is close to me so it could work.  but need to know by this Sunday if you want to do this or not, So I can plan with Johnie when to go down to pick it up.

PM me and we can talk about the details .

Pat

Sounds like a sweet deal...personal delivery!  Much better than having to ship. I would jump on that

What are the chances you will be able to find the correct compressor, let alone a working one randomly?

I just pulled the deck out of storage & checked the system out and it runs nice & cold & quiet, fans checked good, T-stat works & the wiring harness is in A-OK condition, repaired the door switch ( shuts off the evap' fan when the inner door is opened) & the compressors pressures check normal. it should just plug & play into your machines wire harness.  The deck is a LaCrosse refrigeration Assy. # 7793A 1/4 HP-R12
