Title: Odd cooler
Post by: MoonDawg on June 11, 2012, 09:23:12 am
At first glance it looks like a mail carrier painted red. It has no insulation and no drain, but for some reason the decals look like they may have been there a long time.
The shape of it is sort of cool, 2" larger at the top than the bottom.
Could this be some sort of carry home container from Coke back in the 70's?

Home made from some kind of carry all

The  front of the cooler shows a wide strip of the paint worn off, but the decal sits across with no tears or  loss. The top prolly has the same. Someone added the decals in my unprofessional opinion.

Thanks, I believe you are correct!

Well I bought it. The paint issue on the front was a smear from the white letters.  It is really all original with what appears to be silkscreened lettering, no vinyl or water release decals.
I'm convinced it was originally produced for Coca Cola but have no idea why. Not tall enough for sales brochures. 2 handles on the sides for heavy carrying but no wear inside from parts or tools. Anyone care to take a guess what this was made for?

Maybe a stadium cooler, for the people serving beer/soda down the aisles?

Although the pictures seem to be distorted possible from some macro/wide angle mode on the camera lens, I really don't see this being a real "cooler" in the sense that there's no room for any insulation in the side walls & I doubt it's any sort of a stadium carrier, as there's no place for a carry-harness or strap or belt, I think it's just another wannabe "rare" Coke cooler. perhaps of some "vintage" conversion of a fish & tackle box or a Milk cooler at best , I do like the concave inside of the lid. plus you'd never paint the inside of any cooler that would hold Ice & bottles, it just wouldn't last at all, Nope just a pretty fake. pretty bad that is.   :tounge:

Salesman sample for the never produced RT trapezoid cooler. Call pawnstars/AR quick :-) $5000 restored.

No idea what you have there. The hasp looks 40/50's from toolboxes. Silkscreen and color looks factory.
Maybe held wrapped slug rejectors/coin mechs for service calls. Hence no scratches or need for insulation.

Glad you got it!! Cool "Can you indentify this" for the store.
