Title: Spriteboy Post by: Dave on June 05, 2012, 10:15:43 pm One of my favorite pieces that I own. A NOS 1955 Spriteboy billboard.
This was found a few years ago in an Illinois coke bottling plant that had been closed since the 1970's. When the building was being renovated by the new owners, this was found in the rafters unused. It has never been hung. It might very well be the nicest one in existence. These are just painted tin, so a couple of years in the elements and these went to crap. Sprite boy creeps me out though, he looks a little evil to me. :oh: Title: Re: Spriteboy Post by: Dave on June 05, 2012, 10:52:31 pm I agree.....he is creepy, but my favorite coke mascot.
Title: Re: Spriteboy Post by: Dave on June 05, 2012, 11:08:49 pm This Cavalier was also in the closed bottling plant it cleaned up pretty good for being in the abandoned building for over 30 years and covered in pigeon crap. It's still bolted to the factory wood pallet. It was used by the employees of the bottling plant. It's the main machine I use in the hot rod garage.
I like it for the 12 selection capability. It works great and keeps the soda ice cold. Title: Re: Spriteboy Post by: Funtronics on June 06, 2012, 07:22:03 am Where do you hang a sign that size? :upside:
Title: Re: Spriteboy Post by: Dave on June 06, 2012, 07:38:34 am Rod,
I am going to hang it in my house on an old brick wall with a couple of old green porcelain lights shining down on it. It will look like it would have back in the 50's on the outside of a soda fountain or Drug store. No wife, just a girlfriend. She loves this stuff too. If a chic doesn't like hot rods and nostalgic antiques...........she doesn't sleep in my bed................... Last year on a hot summer night, we were driving home in the black 55' Chevy. It was humid , hot, buggy, the car has loud exhaust, there is the smell of high octane fuel in the interior............she looks over at me, and says "this is the life" I knew I had the right one!! Title: Re: Spriteboy Post by: Jacko1070 on June 06, 2012, 12:28:50 pm Lucky man Dave.............I get a stern look if my stuff starts to creep to close to the cellar stairs. Love to see pics of the sign come the time it rests in its permanent home.......
