Title: Icing up
Post by: on August 13, 2004, 12:24:40 pm
Good day all.  I have a Selectivend Model 7A.  The situation is, the compressor and fan both run (very quietly) but the cooling unit inside the soda box freezes up and it doesn't cool at all.  I was told by the former owners that she stopped using the machine because it got to cold and was freezing sodas.  I backed off the themostat and it didn't seem to help.  Any suggestions wouls be greatly appreciated.

Maybe time for a new thermostat, I'd say.  So then if you turn the T-stat down all the way to it's lowest setting
( not "off" ) does the compressor actually shut off? if "yes" then I'd check your evaporator fan as well as the lower
( condensor) fan next to the compressor ( which should shut off with the compressor, by the way...

hope it helps...John

I just took the machine apart to get to the evaporator fans and as was suggested they are both frozen up.  I'll try to identify them and then take a trip to my local Grainger Industrial supply and see what they have.  Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.
