Title: Koken Barber Pole finished
Post by: Funtronics on April 10, 2012, 06:51:49 am
Finally got my Koken barber pole finished. These things are a  :censored: to restore.  :tounge:
I bought this a while back at a Richard Penn auction and it was really rough when I started. I have to give Rick a little credit on this one. He gave me the guys number that did his glass on the show for him. The guy did a great job on the glass. Looks just like the original, but boy was it fun putting all that glass back in. These things may look easy to restore, but they are a job. Anyway it turned out really great. Now I just have to decide if I'm going to keep it or part with it ?  :upside:

Looks pretty good.  Hard to part with things that you work so hard on.

Looking good Rod. Did you reapply the porcelain?

I had my powder coat guy powder coat it. There is a process they go thru that they can powder coat over the porcelain.

I have a more traditional style Koken that I have considered getting reporcelainized (my own word  :tounge:).  I also considered powdercoating as it is a less expensive option than porcelain but really looks just as good.  Any feel for how the barber pole collectors of the world look at this as a solution?

Looks great Rod!  I'd want about five sets of hands with me to help out with mounting that on the wall!

ILikeCoinOp, I had a very similar Koken pole a few years back, they are pretty cool looking when all lit up...unfortunately, UPS managed to shatter it in half on delivery to the eBay buyer...but they ended up paying for it.
