Title: Rustoleum Cold Compund (zinc) VS Powder coating Post by: tkutch on April 06, 2012, 01:47:02 pm I am a newbie and I have a question for you guys. I have been reading these posts for a while and I know some say to use zinc plating and some go with powder coating for the insides of the machines. My issue is many of the zinc platers wont touch doing my parts (industrial only) or only use barrels and cant do my parts. So I went to Home Depot and asked a guy about this and he mentioned the Rustoleum Cold Galvanized Compound. Its is supposedly 95% zinc. I tried doing some searches on here to see if people have used it but no luck. Curious if anyone can give advice or if I should just stick with powder coating. Over the years I have learned you never know if you get someone who knows what they are taking about at these box stores.

the zinc process looks nice, but that can still oxidize over the years... I'm thinking hte powder will hold up longer... That's the way i would go.
