Title: 1936 Westinghouse Elec Master Cooler Repair

What is the best method to repair a small dime size hole in the inner tub. I would like it to look as close as possible to the original silver / metal color of the tub. The cooler has been coated below the tub so it does not leak, but I assume the hole will become bigger if not repaired. Is there a good soultion besides a off the shelf black or gray filler ?

A dime sized hole isn't considered "small" & you'll find it difficult to just patch it with a filler, you'd have to back it up with an over size patch on the opposite side & use a JB weld type product to epoxy the patch panel in place & fill the remaining low spot left by the patched hole, you're better off cutting out the hole, square it up, & MIG weld a metal patch in place, then you can either powder coat the whole liner or paint it with a hammer tone paint.  I'm sure others will chime in with there input on a solution too.

cut a piece of 22 ga. galvanized sheet metal the size of the floor. measure for the drain hole and drill a 5/16" hole. set the sheet metal in the tub and caulk around the edges. cut a 8-12 inch piece of copper. flare one end and put a bead of caulk around the hole and around the flared copper. insert through the drilled hole. let dry for 24 hrs. get a piece of tubing, sliding over the extended copper for a drain... you're done!
