Title: vendo-39 drain hole
Post by: kev_7680 on March 29, 2012, 02:20:38 pm
i have a vendo-39 and the drain hole seams to be pluged/rust.What can i use to try and unplug it?The pipe that goes to the catch jar is prity dirty on the outside so i cant tell if it screws off or if its welded on.The condensation builds up in about a month but its not draining at all....

If you have access to an air compressor, shoot air from the bottom (condensate jar side) upward to blow the broken glass out.
If that doesn't work cut it off above the first bend and slide a rubber hose over the tube or......get a replacement drain kit from one of the suppliers here.

I've loosened up some of the blockage by sticking a small screwdriver down it and wiggled it around....then blown it out with a garden hose with a pressure sprayer on the end or a can of compressed air. I'd try a few things before I cut it off, but if all else fails....

Shop vac blow it or tape a small hose to the vac and suck it out.

Small screw driver or a pick & hook then with a shot of air that may do the trick.

I tryed using pipe cleaner, used shop vac on blow then suck, tryed a bit of draino still the same.It is original pipe and the outside is black with junk from a few broken bottels when i picked it up,so i can only guess whats on the inside. The pipe that hovers over the hole is always frosted over is it meant to be like that?

Sounds like you need a drill.

I finaly got it!I let the draino sit overnight, hooked it up to my shop vac, then hit it with a screw driver and it finally came lose.Turns out it was broken glass and old coke that has been sitting for 30 years..I do have a question.I was wondering if i should make something like a soap dish with a tube attached to the bottom and place the tube into the drain hole so water isnt running on the metal before it enters the hole,so i dont get rust?It is all original and im worried the floor might rust over time....thanks..kevin
