Title: Vendo machine down, need direction, pls
Post by: on July 13, 2004, 12:39:32 pm
Howdy.
Our faithful old Pepsi machine has quit cooling. We called our usually friendly local Pepsi Co, and they now work on nothing older than 8 yrs old.  Their helpful reply was "You can have the machine, we don't want it.  Would you like to buy a new one?"
(*sigh*)
If this was an auto A/C system I'd know what to do, but I'm in the dark on a Pepsi machine. I called local refrigeration companies, and the ones who didn't laugh just said they don't work on drink machines.
Here's what I know about our machine:  It's a square top, Vendo, and the model number is V2207125. (There's a scratch though the 0, so it might be V2267125, it's hard to read.)  A search of the Vendo site and Google finds nothing on this number.
It's run great for about 15 years (I think it's from the 80's), but one day we came in and the box was hot.  The fan(s) is running in the bottom, the face lights up, but the compressor is not kicking on.
I would really like to save this machine, but I'm not sure how to start.
I guess my questions are: How do I identify it exactly, and where and how do I start in the troubleshooting department?
I'm glad to find this forum, as I was just about to give up on getting help when Google found this avenue of help.  Thanks in advance for an assistance you can give!
 :)

You may be able to swap out the whole refrigeration deck/evaporator assemble, and you can always try global compressors listed here at this sites suppliers section, Eric's the man!  :;):

or give http://stores.ebay.com/Pepsi-Equipment-Liquidators
an email, & see if they have simular deck around, ( same vendo machine different flavor/vendor)

or http://www.soda-vending.com/thankyou.htm

http://66.70.130.84/compressors.htm

amazing what a google search will dig up!

If it's a more modern machine, I have full compressor decks in stock. These are the same units my vending machine customers still use. I'm assuming it is a can machine? One thing to check first, is the overload on the compressor itself.
With the box unplugged, remove the cover on the compressor.
Inside, you will find the relay and overload. The overload is the black, round, plastic thing with one wire coming in and another going out to the compressor pin. Turn it over and see if there is a silver disk that might be burned, cracked, or looks like it's been hot. If you can't see the back, check it with a ohm meter and see if it's open. If so, I have several here and would be glad to mail you one, free of charge, and see if it fixes the problem.

Eric

The silver disk looks fine, and there' continuity across the two wires;  I'll call you on the phone about getting another deck......  Many thanks!
