Title: Odd compressor rebuild
Post by: BrianS on February 09, 2012, 11:20:52 pm
Saw this 81 on Ebay and something struck me as odd about it.  It looks like it has the original evaporator coil, but the lower deck has been rebuilt.  The evap coil and the compressor are backwards from what I would expect them to be.  Were there ever any units built this way or did it just get rearranged during the rebuild.  Also, while the compressor looks new, the evap coil looks very dirty as does the bottom of the compressor enclosure.  As long as the unit is out of the machine, wouldn't you clean that area out.  Just seemed strange to me, but maybe I just haven't seen enough machines.  Any of you compressor guys have any thoughts?

I saw it also and said WTF...after reading it again, it says a newer compressor (I think)...I just don't like the decals and they instantly turn me off of a machine...makes me wonder what else did they do?

looks like someone has "shoe horned" a Dixie Narco compressor unit in the bottom.
