I just want to share a cool machine I picked up today.  Here are some pics...........and 1 cool Cobra

Nice pickup, did you ask about the Pepsi slider next to it.

I was too focused on the Coke machine. 

I was able to pickup a coca cola 81d, end of last summer, will start to restore it soon, yours looks pretty clean

Nice score....did you have to sing and dance or open up the bank?

the bank part yes..........i did it because of the rarity..........but Im feeling the $1500 sting

I don't see anything missing. A good clean and that will be a great machine. No sting at $1500. Well bought and congrats.

Should be no sting at 1500 , thats fair market value for a barn find 81.. although some don't think you can find them for that still... but you can.. so congrats.. I'm picking one this weekend that I bought for 1500 as well,  I found on my local newspaper ad.  will post photos on Sunday.. 

       Very nice original machine. You will be so much further ahead restoring this one rather than the VMC 27 you have. Time and cost are close to the same but this one vends multiple flavors and sizes of bottles, which is was what Creighton was explaining in one of your earlier posts.
       I'm guessing you'll paint this the color of your Cobra? And you said the key was missing, how did you get it open?
       Anyway, that's a real nice find Bill. Did anyone tell you this hobby was addicting?

The guy found the key fortunately.  Very addicting, I'm curious what the next "Most Wanted" machine is next to the 81D?

All of the 81D models:
VMC 81's (generic, 7 UP, Pepsi, RC Cola) and any other fantasy 81's (Orange Crush, Barq's, etc.)

Actually the most desireable model out there is the rare and hard to find Cornelious 50.  Fortunately I have access to one of these machines and would be willing to trade you straight up for your 81 D :tounge:

I'm going to look at a Vendo 81 D this Sunday they are asking 1500 firm.  Missing the coin mech.  Pics to follow. I have a large door out of a 110.  My luck is it will be a small door mech. that I would need to make it complete!! :darn:

A Cornelious 50? Dang!  :darn: That must be rare! I have a "Cornelius" 50.  No second "o" in the name. I checked the tag.   :tounge:

Well then you have the common version.  Its the double "o" that makes it so valuable.   :tounge:

     If it's missing the mech completely, yours will work no mater which style it originally came with.

Main difference is the shaft length/pinhole, but there are a couple subtle differences between some models aside from change-giver & non-change-givers.

I've seen that machine...no worries, it's a large door mech. That's missing...good luck...try to get it for $1000

Not to hyjack this thread but I talked to Tom earlier today since this 81 is converted to electric coin mech . there could be some type of alterations to the vending stack also??

I will need to get more pictures to from the seller to determine if the vending stack will work to switch it back to a fuctional mechanical mech. machine, etc.

Thought suggestions..

You got a good deal on that machine.  They are out there.  Just have to look harder for them.  The problem now is that everyone thinks the stuff is gold from watching TV. 

Square tops have been popping up around here with insane asking prices.
