Title: Need an idea of what this machine is worth Post by: tagalla on February 06, 2012, 10:45:30 pm Could someone give me an idea of what this square top Dr Pepper machine would be worth .This would be my first machine to purchase. It needs a new lock and has a hole drilled in trim for pad lock after original lock was busted.
It runs and cools and no rust to speak of Title: Re: Need an idea of what this machine is worth Post by: tkaz on February 06, 2012, 11:03:36 pm I think I hurt my back just looking at the photos!!! That is a very big Cavalier USS, if you are looking to store a lot of drinks it might be good, but otherwise I'd stay away from that one. As for $$, I'd have a tough time saying its worth $100-150, but the compressor and some other parts hold some value for other machines.
Machine looks to be a USS-180: http://soda-machines.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=295&Itemid=14 Title: Re: Need an idea of what this machine is worth Post by: collecture on February 06, 2012, 11:04:23 pm IMHO - Go for something smaller!
If you like it and you have a strong back, then pay no more than $100 (if that). My six cents.... As stated previously, that is a very big and heavy machine. I would not pay more than $150 for it. The USS model is a great machine because it can vend just about anything; but, i would hold off for a USS-64 or USS-96 as they are easier to move around and are more desireable for garage or basement machines.

Bob - I did put a disclaimer in there - "(if that)" Looking at it again, it is bigger than the doorway next to it! What a monster - it would take 3 guys to move it! And forget about the stairs!! Title: Re: Need an idea of what this machine is worth Post by: Pat Pixley on February 07, 2012, 12:37:59 pm I would PASS on this, It is way to big and cost you a a brick of gold to keep it filled.
I would go out looking for a vendo 56 or 63 maybe a 90 as far as Cavalier 64 models or the Cav 80's , those are a good place to start plus there are parts out there for them . I bought a couple of these machines and I couldn't give them away.

Title: Re: Need an idea of what this machine is worth Post by: Kilroy on February 07, 2012, 07:24:22 pm It is ultimately your choice and your decision. Our opinions are just that, but most based on personal experience.
If it's a machine you want, go for it. But by all means ask about value, parts availability. I tihnk most if not all of us here got burned by not doing our research. I bought a couple of these machines and I couldn't give them away. I can relate sonetimes if not patient you can end up buying a Square top for more than a starter machine that us rounded and embossed. ( V-110 in my case). |
