Title: Standard cooler done & others.
Post by: Funtronics on January 17, 2012, 07:47:21 am
Eric here is the Standard cooler I got from you a while back. Finally got it finished, and a few other things. The Grapette cooler turned out really nice.
Enjoy the pictures....

Rod,

They all look awesome.  What shape was the Grapette cooler in before you restored?  I have a couple coke coolers I want to restore but not sure how to get the dents out of the body and lid.  Any helpful hints?

The main part of my cooler had a few small dents in it that they pulled out. The lid was pushed in pretty bad, so they had to take it apart by cutting out the welds, and taking the underside liner out. This way they could get to the inside of the lid and hammer it out to put the cross lines back in it.  I traced the embossing and had my graphic guy make a blocker decal for me. So the painter painted the lettering area the color of the embossing and then let it dry and put the decal on over the embossing and then painted the cooler white, and then peeled of the decals that was on the embossing, and theres your embossing painted on.

Very nice, does Funtronics sell the blocker decal, I getting ready to have my Westy Jr. painted and may try this instead of paying for the hand painting lettering.

Thanks,

Clay

Did you replace the tub or is it original?
