Title: Help please!!!!
Post by: on June 24, 2004, 06:44:59 pm
I have a Choice Vend 168 and it seems to be working pretty well.  I have 2 Auger assemblies that aren't turning (motor just spins continuaously.  and I have one that used to vend but my son Jammed it up and after I cleared it the Button won't vend anymore.  I did notice that the Relay Box (?) inside the door was tripped.  I pushed the button back in but it still won't vend.  I can make the Aguers turn Manually with the manual button under neath.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to say I just sold my Choicevend spare motor gear assy.'s to another member,  :( ,  I'm afraid you've probably have a set of stripped motor gear assemblys on the two,(worst-case scenario) or maybe just a shorted indexing  micro switch ( possibly did they get soaked from a ruptured soda-can that was crushed in the augers/jammed? ) the one that won't vend is probably stripped out on the first gear, ( thus the popped breaker) it's the rear one with the two or four index bumps on it. you'll have to unload the machine, remove the rack above, & slide the motor/auger assembly out of the machine. it's on a short harness & will unplug from the vending harness in the bottom of the machine. put it on the bench & we'll start trouble-shooting it from there, I can get you a copy of my choicevend vending motor tester & maybe you can use it to help you set it all back up again. but first you'll need some spare gear assy.'s

you can't do a thorough job on a choice vend without pulling the vending gear/auger assy out of the machine, hope you still have a gear setup guide on the inside door of your machine. or maybe another choice vend owner can help out here...

JohnieG may I ask a few questions, 1. what size bulb is in your lighted sign. My Choice Vend came without a bulb when I inherited it. Also my Choice Vend is a Coke machine but the paint inside and under the red paint, is blue in places thinking it could have been a Pepsi machine at one time.

2. Also how do you remove the racks to get to the gears/assembly? Mine looks like it's held in with several screws. I had several can spills in the machine when it was opened and really need to check every thing out and clean as much as possible.

3. What about rewiring should I or not. I have an electrician coming soon to check that out.

I've sold my ChoiceVend, however here's a photo of where the rackscrews attach, be carfull the upper rack ( at least my CVC 224) is about 60 lbs heavy, first remove all of the screws, the upper rack must come out first, it kinda tips out & up at the top as it's lower left screw area overlaps with the lower sections upper left screw area, (you see when you look at yours)....then extend the lower support bracket, & slide the assembly forward partway, then reach underneath & disconect the wire harness form the back of the lower chassis
then slide it out the rest of the way, also be carefull her too, it's another 75/lbs of dead weight.  :O  as for the bulb, I believe it was a F15/T8 coolwhite, but measure across the area between the sockets & add 1-inch (1/2 an inch per pins on either end) to get the "nominal size (length) of the bulb required.as I recall, it's about ~21" in length. perhaps someone else can help out here with this???  ???

Thanks.  You need to place all your knowledge (plus anyothers out there) on Choice Vends on a web page so those of us needing info can use it as reference, being the manuals are non existant.

JohnieG -  I noticed on your pic, you have a support bar.  I don't think mine has one.  What is it for?

Casey -  When I bought my CVC-168, the AC cord was shot; it had numerous cracks in the insulation.

I found a replacement cord on the intenet (I think it was from the SodaJerkWorks.com).  It has a molded receptacle on the other end, so it wasn't cheap $30...   A visual inspection of the wiring should be all you need to do.  If there are not cracks or burn marks on any of the wire, I would say it's fine.

To be sure,  I have run my machine outside for 3 months (while I finish my basement) to give it the acid test.  So far, no fire, so I'll be moving it indoors shortly.

Good luck, and you're right, we need a Choice-Vend resource page!

If you search the Discussion Areas for "Choice Vend", you'll find several good posts...
I know this isn't equivalent to a manual, but the experiences shared is almost as valuable! :D

OK,  It's been a while since I have Posted but I finally got to look at my CVC-168 again.  Of the 5 Vending Mechs I have one that still works (The double sized one on the RIght end).  the first 2 on the left side won't vend from the button but when I push the Manual Feed button they do turn.  Any Ideas?  Could it possibly be the Switch in the door?  If so where can I get one to try it?

Thanks again...

Todd....
