Title: VMC 72 Question
Post by: BONOVOX on December 18, 2011, 12:18:56 pm
Hi all,

Just a question if anyone could help.
With regards to the VMC 72, were all the machines embossed with the lettering "Drink Coca Cola In Bottles"?
Or were some embossed and some having it as a decal?

If some were embossed, and some were decals only, which is the more rare?
I ask this because Im thinking of restoring a VMC 72 and have the opportunity to get one very close to me.  It needs to be restored, and I would like to know if it's worth it, or if infact an embossed machine are harder to find.

This embossed non embossed issue came to my attention from a member on this board (thanks to them if reading) and I started looking at pics of these 72's and noticed that some seemed to be decals (hard to tell from the pics though)

Any help would be GREAT!

Oh, and whats a fair price for a embossed VMC 72 that needs restored?

Again, thanks.

So are you asking if some were generic? If so I never seen or heard of one.

I'm not a Cavalier guy, but I know that any embossed machine brings a premium price over an un-embossed version regardless of the model/flavor

Never seen one non-embossed and it is believed that they have the largest embossing out of most other machines. If it helps I got mine cooling and no rust for $250.

Hey Zach (and all)

Yeah, Im pretty sure they all came embossed too.... just making sure
As for the price... 250 is a great price! Prices like that don't happen around me, and I have to pay a bit more, or drive further for less.
The machine Im lookin at he's asking 700, and that's his lowest.
The problem with this machine, and it's really the only problem, is that is has damage on the side where its been broken into I assume, and someone banged it back out, and the door where it closes is a bit off as well.

I guess I should counter offer less, see what he says, and go from there.

I guess the VMC isnt that uncommen?

Thanks all

I would probably see if he'd go lower if not pass in my opinion. They are a really nice machine but they just don't seam to be that popular. However, if you really like the VMC 72 then go for it. Deals come up in my area every now and then. Machines just aren't all that popular were I live and selling restored ones is tough, so kind of a trade off I guess. Seems like there's more people into the hobby on the east coast which causes prices to be higher I suppose.
