Title: Ideal 35 Rack
Post by: flippa on December 09, 2011, 07:44:52 pm
I have a chance to get an Ideal 35 generic machine for less than $150.  It still cools, appears fairly clean body, no rust & still has it's cap catcher.  It is missing the coin mech & rack.

I have a clean rack & coin mech from an Ideal 55.  I believe that the mach will fit, but can the rack out of the 55 be cut down/modified to fit an Ideal 35?

Yes, the Ideal 55 rack can be cut to fit a 35. you may have to fabricate some of the side tabs that hold it along the side of the rails & attach it to the tank, the front pair should line up OK, but I may be mistaken..perhaps someone who has done this before would chime in on the subject...

In addition, you need to grind 2 corners to fit the round corners in the tank.
And, you will lose the second spacer on the top right when it is cut off, so either remove it from the cut off piece and weld back to your shorter rack, or make a new one and weld it on. Caution: spacing is critical as bottles will not slide if the rails are crooked.
