Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: Pat Pixley on December 05, 2011, 07:05:20 pm She must have fallen and bummed her head on the milk machine .
Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: vintage-air on December 05, 2011, 07:10:59 pm But Pat.....Rick paid $2500 for one that was not as nice as hers...come on!

I think $2500.00 is a fair price, $4000.00 is a bit high. Something I noticed on Rick's machine was that it didn't seem to have the counter weights. It may not have truoble vending while full but won't drop when it gets low. Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: Seven181 on December 05, 2011, 08:18:18 pm It just shows you that the "Ricks Show" is killing the market. No way she will get $4k. Lucky to get $2500. There are still good deals out there, but people think their stuff is worth tons now, due to the inflation of machines on these shows.

So then she will either sit on it or have to drop her price, right? If nobody pays her asking price then the show only inflates the $ in the seller's mind.Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: vintage-air on December 05, 2011, 08:37:20 pm Just spoke with the owner and she stated that Ron dale, rick's brother, has bought the machine for $3200. The top display is gone, no coin mech. and the evap. fan does not work. Other than that, she said everything is there. They purchased this machine new and actually had 2 of them. Sold the other one 8 yrs ago for $2900. Nice lady. I will let you know if anything changes.
Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: Kilroy on December 05, 2011, 09:37:45 pm the top display makes the machine. I'm glad for her, only hope it's not a scam.
Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: Marvin on December 05, 2011, 10:08:28 pm If that's the case, then I'm putting mine on Craigslist for 5000.00 tomorrow!
Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: mygoose101 on December 05, 2011, 11:45:45 pm When she says free shipping would worry me. If anyone here is interested the first question I would ask if it can be picked up in person.

I posted mine last night. Testing the waters. Don't poke fun at me! A closed mouth doesn't get fed. Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: SIGNGUY on December 06, 2011, 09:55:01 am Might as well... Maybe Rick Dales Brother will buy it..
Good luck! Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: Kilroy on December 06, 2011, 10:02:49 am Marvin, I'd mention it also has the "rare" display top. I don't think the one on <won't mention the show's name> had it. In my opinion it puts the machine on the cool factor scale
good luck to you! Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: Seven181 on December 06, 2011, 11:33:29 am Good luck, that's a nice looking machine.
Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: briandr1 on December 06, 2011, 01:45:45 pm definatly a nice nice original you have there
Marvin. I bet you sell it good luck. Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: bluebluejays on December 06, 2011, 03:25:52 pm Please take a look at my restored Milk Machine in Ken Cerra's Stuff in the photo gallery. There was a long and drawn out story about Rick Dale casting studio wanting to contract with me to restore this machine about 9 months ago. I told him thanks but no thanks after he quoted me $65000 to restore plus I pay for round trip shipping plus I pay for my round trip airfare. Then he dropped the resto price to $3000 and the show would pay shipping and airfare. They wanted me to fly in and return the same day, no hotel costs. I asked their casting studio, how could this schedule be possible when it would take him certaintly more than one day to film and complete the restoration. No answer was given. I told them to forgetaboutit!
The whole show is a sham!!!! Ken Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: SIGNGUY on December 06, 2011, 03:57:46 pm Ken,
Great looking machine, and I enjoyed talking with you about restoring it back then.. who ended up doing it for you! Looks Fantastic! The price seems reasonable IMO, particularly for that condition.I posted mine last night. Testing the waters. Don't poke fun at me! A closed mouth doesn't get fed. Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: vintage-air on December 06, 2011, 07:50:22 pm Here's another Milk machine I found. Not as old but would be pretty cool to have. And only .4 cents ta boot! What a deal.

Thanks for your comments. I sought of acted as the GC and subcontracted out the work locally including sandblasting, painting, pinstriping, chroming etc. I put a little personality into the design. I did all the assembly and wiring myself. The biggest challenge was having the weights casted from a pattern, and having the hardware fabricated. I was fortunate to find a small local foundry who agreed to do the casting. I really enjoyed the hands on approach of coordinating the project etc. I don't have the facitities or the expertise to do handle a turnkey project by myself. Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: Seven181 on December 06, 2011, 09:00:14 pm Vintage,

The good new is... I bought this one! Can't wait to get it back here. He says it's an all original machine with working compressor and coin mech. He also said he has a cigarette machine for sale and a few other antiques i might be interested in. Hmmm.... I might have to take a few extra green stamps with me.

Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: Marvin on December 08, 2011, 10:06:52 am Cool. Looks like the counter weights are there also. Still not a bad deal. Wonder what happened to the top?
Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: vintage-air on December 08, 2011, 11:36:02 am This guy said he's been in the vending machine business since 1962 and still had a few machines left in his basement. He saw the episode of american restorations and said "hey, i have one one those machines" I'm going to try and sell it. Seems like a great guy and was really interested in how I got into collecting soda machines. He said the top display was damaged while moving the machine so they just tossed it. Hopefully, it wont be too hard to fabricate another on. Can't wait to go pick it up.
Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: Marvin on December 08, 2011, 12:16:27 pm Maybe they need to restore a RC81 on TV. That way they will start popping up everywhere.
Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: Seven181 on December 08, 2011, 04:41:53 pm If anyone wants to go in on getting a top fabricated, let me know. I could use one.
Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: vintage-air on December 08, 2011, 04:55:37 pm brian, I will be fabricating a top for this machine so I'll let you know when I finish. I'll make a couple extra ones in the process.
Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: Jim on December 08, 2011, 05:30:30 pm I believe I have the artwork for the marquee...
I'll check tomorrow and get back... Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: Funtronics on December 09, 2011, 08:00:27 am I could use a top also. Jim if you have the art work for the oval piece I would be interested in it. I have a guy screening and making the glass for the top piece. He should have them done this month.
Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: Seven181 on December 09, 2011, 08:22:36 am Rod,
Sent you a PM, I might need a glass piece as well, if he can make me one. I am also interested in the artwork for the front sign!!! Brian Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: vintage-air on December 19, 2011, 04:49:21 pm Rod, I am also interested in the Glass display. Jim, let us know what you have for artwork. Maybe we can get in on a bulk order.
Title: Re: Milk Machine Post by: Jim on December 19, 2011, 05:53:32 pm Sorry for the delay!
I have preliminary artwork for this marquee... Meaning it was sent to me as a Photoshop file, but I have not converted to a vector based image which is much cleaner and better... I would need to have accurate measurements of all dimensions including white and yellow line thickness, gray thickness, etc, etc... If someone has a nice original that may not be installed, the actual measurements may be easier to obtain. If I had all the measurements, I could then create an accurate marquee for reproduction.
