Title: Gotta love those Craiglist games Post by: mygoose101 on November 25, 2011, 09:13:55 pm On Monday I found a nice 81b on the Los Angeles Craigslist for $1,800. Thought it was a fair price and was hoping there was room in that. Ad was posted Sunday night so I saw it rather quickly. Ad had a name and number. Tried calling for a couple days and it was a cell phone that was off because it wouldn't ring, went straight to voice mail where it said mailbox was full so you couldn't leave a message. The next day I tried again and the phone did ring but no answer and still couldn't leave a message as mailbox was still full. The next day I tried again where a woman answered and told me it was sold. Not sure how she could have sold it because she was impossible to get a hold of but no biggie, things happen. Today I see it listed again but for $2,800. Same ad but for $1,000 more. Go figure. Below Is the link incase someone wants to call her and offer her $500.

Title: Re: Gotta love those Craiglist games Post by: RC kid on November 27, 2011, 12:09:00 pm I was happy when people started lowering their prices as I could actually afford to buy a machine and restore it. Now I am seeing huge Vendo 144s for sale for well over $1600.00 with quotations stating it's restored value is $6800.00. It is almost insulting to one's intelligence.
Title: Re: Gotta love those Craiglist games Post by: mygoose101 on November 27, 2011, 01:12:47 pm Yeah, pricing is getting really weird everywhere. People do little research until they see what they want to see as far as price and run with it. I use a common line with dealing with people who think their Coke Machine is worth $6,000.
"1950's Coke Machines are the same as cars from the 50's. Many were made but only a few are collectible". Below is a link of a Coke Machine that is for sale that sums up what we are all talking about. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/clt/2720558855.html Title: Re: Gotta love those Craiglist games Post by: Kilroy on November 27, 2011, 01:19:08 pm :veryangry:
Um, that's MY listing. Kidding.... Title: Re: Gotta love those Craiglist games Post by: SIGNGUY on November 28, 2011, 10:09:32 am Um that V39 is the rare one with the Fire exinquisher attachment, made excusivley for Firehalls... we'll worth 6k+ in that condition!
I agree.... you can't always educate them and then get a deal (right away anyway) , no one likes to be "Told" their wrong... I just leave them with my offer, thank them for their time and leave...once in a while I get the call back with an "Ok, come get it".. Just happened the other day on an 81b that was Repainted, and unfortunatley the guy payed a restored price for 5 years ago.. insides where not done at all, just outside paint withoverspray everywhere.. guy was asking 3500.00... I pointed out a few obveservations nicely, and left him with my offer of what I buy unrestored machines for as this would have to be treated as a total rebuild anyway... regardless of the "OK" paint job. I got the , we'll I have several others interested... and I said Great , hope you can sell it.. 2 weeks later, guy calls and says come get it..
