Title: Coke sign
Post by: jbrooks on October 27, 2011, 10:13:12 am
Anybody have any input on what this may be?  Is it a repopped item?  It is for sale locally and I like the look of it.  Thanks in advance for any help

Fake

there where a few versions similiar to this design, one was a huge porcelain fountain service sign , about 6 foot across... there is another small porcelain sign with the fountain heads on it , but is' one dimensional...  this one appears to be more 3 dimensional...

someone went through alot of work to make it , so if you like it and it's priced right for you, nothing wrong with buying it... just don't buy it thinking its a collectable..

thanks signguy.  i emailed the seller but i have a feeling i am not going to hear back.  it probably sold as the asking price was only $50.  I am glad you educated me though, i was afraid i would have missed out on something good

The 1930 listed was multicolored porc. and not heavily embossed like the one for sale appears to be.

Yes the one you pictured Tom is the second one I was referencing as the smaller sign, but it's made of heavy Porcelain and is not 3 dimensional as this home made one appears to be in the photo.. it was copied from that design for sure, but definatly not the same sign...

That sign is from those benches you could buy at WAL-MART a few years back.. it was bolted into the back of the bench
and the bench side arms were soda fountain taps. A pot metal... not real detailed.

We repro'd that sign a couple years ago... aluminum and embossed and dated twice.

Benches were neat but cheaply made I thought... don't know of many around... wood wasn't a high quality... rotted fast.

What Eric said is 100% true I seen one of these the other day for $125 for sale seller thought they had a real desirable piece.
