Title: Coke Machine - 6 Case?? Post by: Ken R on October 20, 2011, 06:16:00 pm This guy is advertising this as a "model 10 Vendo". From his description though, it sounds like a 6 case cooler. If that is in fact what it is, $375 doesn't sound too bad, although he states it needs restoration, so that could mean a number of things. Thoughts on this one?

Title: Re: Coke Machine - 6 Case?? Post by: Ken R on October 20, 2011, 06:40:48 pm What are the few major things to check to see if it's worth it or not? Besides the obvious, is the compressor system working? :glare:

Title: Re: Coke Machine - 6 Case?? Post by: Ken R on October 20, 2011, 08:25:15 pm 3hour drive to get there. Gotta see what the boss says first, haha. Y'all know what I'm talking about.

Title: Re: Coke Machine - 6 Case?? Post by: Ken R on October 24, 2011, 09:34:14 pm So, here's a picture of this thing. They said the fan comes on, but the compressor does not. Also says it is complete. Needs a paintjob, but doesn't look all that bad otherwise....aside from not seeing inside that is. Does this sound like a common problem with compressor...as in simple, or probably needing a new compressor? Thoughts? Thanks.
Title: Re: Coke Machine - 6 Case?? Post by: collecture on October 24, 2011, 10:23:09 pm One way to test would be to directly plug in the compressor and bypass everything. It should start getting cold, but don't run it too long!
Maybe the t-stat is turned off and the guy doesn't know to turn it on? Rarely are these old systems not still cooling - less than 10% of the 50 or so I've owned are bad. Mainly one particular model of compressor. Ken - I'll dig around for the mount. Not sure what the clips are, but I'll see if I can determine from the manual. Title: Re: Coke Machine - 6 Case?? Post by: cokecolaman on October 25, 2011, 12:07:10 am I agree with collector...they usually cool....more often than not, the thermostat is not turned down or something simple.
Title: Re: Coke Machine - 6 Case?? Post by: Ken R on October 25, 2011, 12:50:36 pm So sounds like something to not get too riled up over. If in fact the compressor is not working though, what do you suppose would be a reasonable offer on this machine based on its condition and all? Sorry to keep asking, but am thinking real serious about this one if it's still available by the time I make a decision. Have been in contact with them, so I think it still is. Thanks for the help.
Title: Re: Coke Machine - 6 Case?? Post by: MoonDawg on October 25, 2011, 01:43:14 pm The complete compressor/condensing unit from any old squaretop Vendo will work just fine in it.

Post by: briandr1 on October 26, 2011, 01:22:43 am I agree on 375 esp if the compressor does happen to be out a cooling system rebuild will cost you about 700
