Title: Sandblasting embossing Post by: bergy on October 01, 2011, 03:33:27 pm I am looking at sandblasting or media blasting the embossed areas on my machine. For those of you that have done this do you have to sand much around the letters after blasting? Or can you pretty much just prime the area after? Thanks.

After it was primed you want to wet sand it until its's smooth. Make sure to used the palm of you hand, not your fingertips. If you use the tips of your fingers there is more pressure and can leave tiny divots or spots when sanding, when you paint it you will see all the spots. I would wet sand the embossed letters carefully and rinse them well. I used a nice sealer before painting it as well, this allowed for less of pait and it covered nicely.
Im sure others members have different methods or techniques. I learned from a very experienced co worker who has been painting cars, and other projects for over 20 years. Good Luck... Remove these with a razor blade as they will look much more obvious when painted.
