Title: 7Up Chest Cooler
Post by: halehouse on September 29, 2011, 09:52:32 pm
This chest is kind of neat with the "You Like It, It Likes You" opener and signage. Eastern PA. $200/$300 BIN.

No. I'm not as it's not that local. I did think it was neat too and is a reasonable $.

Eh. Why not? I haven't had anything new for a while and I can use it for parties.

SO seeing the auction ended with BIN, I'm assuming you now own it? pretty cool ,, I like the art deco lid?
so is the cooler body metal and the stand wood? is that what they mean by it? are the signs embossed?
Congrats!

I'm not sure. The tub is metal, looks like at least part of the frame is wood. It says the signs are metal but I don't know if they are embossed. It was kind of a whim buy. I hadn't gotten anything for awhile (pop related) and was keeping an eye out for signs or small machine or chest cooler. I thought it was cool, and mentioned it to the wife. It caught her eye and was like, "So get it. We can use it." (Isn't that the way? It's a no brainer once she gives the approval.) I just have to find a time to make a road trip. I can bring this out to the patio for parties. That's what we currently do with a Glascock which isn't anything super great, so maybe I'll get rid of it. I don't know. I'm also trying to work out a deal for a small Coke machine, but right now the seller and I haven't met up on a price.

That's a really cool 7Up cooler!  Unfortunately, I have not come across anything really cool like that around here.  Seems like all the really neat ones are up north.  Does anyone happen to have any idea on any sort of cooler or machine that is harder to get up north and might be easier to find in the southern/Texas area?  Just curious if there are machines that are more prevalent in this area.  If I could find a really cool Pepsi machine or cooler, I know my wife would fall over for that one, haha.  She's a Pepsi girl.  I like them all personally!  Congrats on the new cooler!!!!

Funny you should mention that.  I've found some Dr. Pepper machines, but most of them are 1960s and later.  Guess I should look to see when Dr. P came out, that would probably tell me how old the machines would be.  Thanks!!

Dr. Pepper came out in the 1880's.

Wow, thanks for the quick response.  Almost quicker than looking it up on Google!!!  Haha.  So I should be able to find some pretty neat machines then if it's been out for that long.  Wonder why I haven't come across any.  I do apologize if I unintentionally changed subject on your post.  Thanks for the info though!

Dr. Pepper is a great one to collect and a hard one to find... they have some great
embossed coolers but no embossed upright machines that I know of.

Those are some great looking coolers.  If I was in PA, the 7-Up would be in my sights.
