Title: lighting up a Stoner Senior Post by: rayg on September 20, 2011, 10:18:29 pm Hi,
Just wanted to share the way I lite up my Stoner Senior (daily driver..not a show piece). I did it because I like stoner and coin ops that light up, also I doubt that I would ever get "Theater model" Since space in these is limited and I was concerned with heat, I went with LED's as a light source. What I decided to use was Side View Flexible LED Light Strip 18 LEDs per ft. at the cost of $8.35 per ft it cost $16.70 + $9.00 shipping for a total of $25.70. A small transformer 9~12 vdc) is need but I have some many laying round, I didn't need to by one. I know it's not a theater but it does lite up and looks cool. Also, no harm was done o the machine. http://www.ledlightsworld.com/side-view-flexible-led-light-strip-18-leds-p-133.html Title: Re: lighting up a Stoner Senior Post by: tkaz on September 20, 2011, 10:25:41 pm Looks great to me, and can't complain about the heat coming off the LED's; nice work!

That machine turned out great. I like the way you did the lights and that would have been what I would have recommended! Can you post some pics of the machine in better light--would love to see the finished product. :drinking: Tim :drinking: Title: Re: lighting up a Stoner Senior Post by: rayg on September 20, 2011, 10:38:03 pm Tim,
I will add pictures, but it looks better in low light , I wound up spraying it with cans of light blue metallic Hammerite, but a trick I got from a paint guy helped out, he had me sand it all down with 600 grid sand paper to give it a nice even look and then spray it with multiply layers of auto clear coat. I just clear up the inside and got the coin mech to work on a 10 or 15 cents. Jim and others have all been very helpful! PS thanks for selling it to me ! Title: Re: lighting up a Stoner Senior Post by: rayg on September 20, 2011, 11:42:38 pm Here's some more pic's... :hopefull: please be kind, I know it not up to Jim's or Curtis standards,(expert level) but not bad for a "Daily Driver" at (novice level)
The last pic is the before shot taken by Tim also kept the mirror original, I think it adds to the used not restored machine look I was going for. Title: Re: lighting up a Stoner Senior Post by: briandr1 on September 21, 2011, 12:04:29 am Looks great to me I would love to have it

I like my stuff to light up also. Thanks for the idea. Machine turned out nice. Did you use pure white or warm white? How did you mount the strip? Where'd you run your wire through? Thanks, Larry. Title: Re: lighting up a Stoner Senior Post by: memorylane on September 21, 2011, 11:10:13 am Larry I use the warm lighting but there are two different brightness of warm. They look great. The led lighting has come along way.

Title: Re: lighting up a Stoner Senior Post by: rayg on September 21, 2011, 08:24:37 pm Hi Larry,
I when with the pure white side view to give it more of a fluorescent light look. The strips is flexible and is cut to length and come with a 3M adhesive backing . It's only 8MM wide 1/3" so it fit nicely along the open of the candy display holder. I left a "service loop" for open and closing the door and candy display. My stoner has a open back base so I ran it thought a 1/8' hole and out the back to a 12 vdc switchable transformer. You can get really fancy with these lights beside coming in warm or pure white they also come tri-color (RGB) . To control them you can also get a dimmer or a remote for some special effects and to programmed a light show including a chaser lights mode, ..... all for around under $75. Thank you all for your kind remarks  this was my first "restore project", not counting rewiring a few pinball machines. It was allot of fun, everyone was great and helpful!
