and that's good potential for problems. :darn: This site is mostly dedicated to the older and simpler operating machines. Title: Re: Dr. Pepper Machine Post by: loman4ec on September 09, 2011, 06:44:11 pm Its also a monster!

Title: Re: Dr. Pepper Machine Post by: Ken R on September 09, 2011, 09:32:57 pm Haha, yes, I thought the same thing. Much like cars with too many gadgets on them, just more to go wrong. Seems the late 60s and early 70s machines are really popular right now on craigslist. Lot of folks getting rid of them. I see at least 5 or 6 of them listed everyday. Didn't really care for this one myself, but thought maybe it was different enough that someone might like it.

Distinctively different! Somebody will love it I'm sure! It is just not a collectible machine. Like Glen Said there is alot of buttons & wires, with a chance of problems , But you know some one will snap this up because it looks cool ( its not my taste) and is from the sixty's . I thought this site was dedicated to soda machine ? note : lose the wood grain and paint it Dr Pepper Mint green polish up the stainless steel could be cool . Title: Re: Dr. Pepper Machine Post by: BONOVOX on September 10, 2011, 10:12:04 am I know that the machine is BIG and a sure thing for problems with all the wiring etc.... but I find it funny that most of us here (me incl.) shun away from these machines, and steer people away from getting them. I know that people give their advise to stay away bc of $$$ that would be put into it vs value... but we here are all lovers of soda machines(pop machines as us canadians call them lol) and I look at it this way;
If we all collect the same machines, the 81's 44s 39's... all the same sliders, the same the same the same, then NO one will be collecting and preserving the machines that are part of the history of pop machines. 200 years from now, when our great x5 grandchildren inherit our machines (lol) they will all have the same machines to look at. If no one kept the Pinto alive and restored, or an Edsel, or any AMC car for that matter lol, then what would a antique car show look like? All vettes and mustangs! What makes this hobby so great IS the vast amounts of machines out there. If someone wants to tackle a machine that may not be in favour today, we should let him know the things that he may encounter with it (costs etc) yet still support the fact that someone has an interest in these fugly machines :o) Just my 2 cents (didnt reread what I wrote, so I hope it flowed well :o) Title: Re: Dr. Pepper Machine Post by: collecture on September 10, 2011, 10:25:35 am Switches and motors don't scare me (too much), but size does! :Oo:
Not only do you have to move it, but you have to stock it! My back aches just thinking about it! Title: Re: Dr. Pepper Machine Post by: Pat Pixley on September 10, 2011, 10:41:23 am Totally agree with you bonovox. Myself I like the little sq. Top 56's there great machines
And like I said it would look cool mint green . Title: Re: Dr. Pepper Machine Post by: Ken R on September 10, 2011, 11:05:24 am I really wish I'd gotten that DP machine I posted a few weeks ago... :darn: It was so cool looking! Oh well, perhaps next time, right?
