Title: Broken 10 cent spring Post by: BrianS on August 20, 2011, 11:53:03 pm Started to cleanup my coin mechs this evening and after removing the slug rejector I noticed that the 10 cent spring is broken. The "pointy" end is no longer there. A couple questions. Will this effect the operation of the dime selection since the point is no longer there to slow down the dime as it passes and second, can this part be replaced? Seems like a part that would break off a lot. Found a pic from another post that actually shows the spring so I have attached it below. Thanks.
Title: Re: Broken 10 cent spring Post by: collecture on August 21, 2011, 12:25:52 am It is only really needed for the nickel/penny rejector.
The part serves two purposes: 1. Knock undersized coins through the cutout in the mainplate (such as dimes on a six cent rejector). 2. Capture washers should they be used to try and fool the mechanism Dimes should still pass through without trouble. I can replace it if you want authenticity. I hope to send the entire coin mech to you for a complete restortion once I get the rest of the machines done. If it will function properly on a dime without the spring for now I will just hold off. May look to cannibalize one from an abandon rejector in the mean time. The more I look into the coin mechs the more amazed I am at the engineering involved in these things. Also amazed at what it must take to tear one apart and actually get it back to gether in working fashion.
