Title: Need bottle door light for V63
Post by: bubba on August 09, 2011, 07:10:08 pm
I need the light socket that goes in the bottle door of a V63. It holds the standard night light bulb. Working on a machine that someone cut the socket out for some reason..

I just checked a 56 that I am going to part out and I have one on that machine still. Finding one on the shelf would be nice though. I made one a few years ago with I think a 1" electrical knockout modified to mount a small light bulb socket. HD used to carry the socket, but just checked and don't carry any more

Home Depot or Lowes hardware sells one that is pretty-darn close to the original down the electrical Isle in a plastic pull-draw bin with all of the other replacement lamp-sockets ( for sconces & such) you just have to "tweak" the retaining clip/prongs

Hmmmm... guess I'm gonna make a Lowes trip.. The Home Depot doesn't have anything like that, or atleast the closest one to me doesn't. I know they each carry some different things.. I do remember seeing the bin of parts at Lowes come to think of it..

I would also consider looking in ACE Hardware if there's one local as I do find some odds-n-end parts like this at these stores...

Sounds good.. I've still got one of those fairly local as well. Surprised it hasn't closed up shop yet with 2 HP around them...

Yeah, Lowe's is the way to go.  I had the exact same problem on my 63, for some unknown reason (as the power still was in the wires) someone just cut the wiring to the light.  They have the exact socket, I just used a dremel to cut the plug off the old socket and then create a wide enough opening in the plug to accomodate the new socket.   worked great!!
