Title: Vendo 56 Club Post by: oscar on July 20, 2011, 12:56:59 pm I'm in the Vendo 56 club now. It's rough but cheap. Has rust through at the belt line, coin mech needs work, couple of dents but it is complete. What do you know I'm a Soda Jerk now. Number 500

Title: Re: Vendo 56 Club Post by: Creighton on July 20, 2011, 01:16:19 pm Congrats on both counts! Great 56.
It answers a question I've had for a long time. Looks like glass door machines still said "behind door". Thanks! Creighton Title: Re: Vendo 56 Club Post by: SIGNGUY on July 20, 2011, 01:29:35 pm Great Machines, I love the 56's

Title: Re: Vendo 56 Club Post by: SIGNGUY on July 20, 2011, 04:15:17 pm Gotta love the 56's...just needs a light and I would like it more than my 81. I have seen some modifications on a 56 that included a light in the bottle door.. it looked great and was a great addition. I am going to attempt to do that to mine when I get to restoring it.. I also have a Can Stack Rack that has been modified to work on the mechanical linkage so I can put cans in the round top 56!.. or just swap it out and put bottles in... can't wait to someday work on it and get it all done!Title: Re: Vendo 56 Club Post by: BONOVOX on July 20, 2011, 05:06:41 pm Congrats too on both counts!!!
I hope to join ya one day with the 56... just a few more at the top of the list b4 I search for my 56 :) :happydrinkers: Title: Re: Vendo 56 Club Post by: johnnyselman on July 20, 2011, 09:13:40 pm I love the look/size of the 56. Although I've never seen them in person.
Did VMC make them in other brands?? ,Johnny Title: Re: Vendo 56 Club Post by: Creighton on July 20, 2011, 09:20:13 pm Door light to be done correctly needs a new aluminum or stainless steel surround created with mounting for the light and glass diffuser.
Requires taking the main door apart. Can rack is easy. Just use square top rack and shelves. Think I had to drill two new mounting holes. No need to worry about converting the rack to manual. Leave the linkage off. You can drop coins into the coin mech, crank the handle and nobody will ever know it didn't trip the rack to vend. Any questions, just ask! Creighton Title: Re: Vendo 56 Club Post by: Creighton on July 20, 2011, 09:31:05 pm Hey Johnny,
Nope, the Vendo round top 56 was only coke and no other brands. VMC never made anything close as far as I know. Only two versions of V-56 RT. Glass product door and a door with aluminum panels. Best I can tell the glass door versions were later and not very common. There will be machines with and without change giver coin mechs. Hope this helps. Title: Re: Vendo 56 Club Post by: Eric on July 21, 2011, 04:52:50 am Jeff Walters Book has a 56 7up RT model (prototype -only one known?) Then they embossed the 7up on the bottom front door when they went to Square tops for a while... but that's the only other brand I know of.
surprised they haven't “made” other embossed brands.... A little Pepsi one would be killer... using the embossing from a 33D all blue. Title: Re: Vendo 56 Club Post by: vintage-air on July 21, 2011, 07:50:49 am Creighton, You got there before me! If that was the one for sale in Lafayette, IN. Couldn't believe he listed it for $500. I called and left a message and never got called back. It pays to be quick on CL! Good buy!
