This printer is used in "parts, assemblies, tools, packaging & containers" designs, for example plastic water bottles, before they actually manufacture the bottles. And, I imagine it is quite and expensive process!

Here is a video I took of one that I saw a few years ago at the SkillsUSA national competition in Kansas City.
