Title: Just wondering Post by: firemun on May 04, 2004, 11:27:00 am I recently acquired a VMC 27 (B) that is all intact but has been victimized by a do it yourselfer restoration. Lot of rust was covered with Bondo and it looks pretty sad. I am considering parting it out.
I also have an opprtunity to buy a VMC 27A that has been in a family since new. Still has the pipe stand with it. However the drum is missing. Other than that, it looks great. I know the A model is worth more if it were intact, my question is, are the parts of the B model worth what it will take to try and restore the A model? Or should I just try to restore the B since I do have all the parts? I am rather fond of staying married so I have to get rid of one if I want the other. Alternately, can I get one of you guys to convince my wife that Six Coke machines is no where close to the limit of a good collection? thanks Title: Just wondering Post by: Jim on May 04, 2004, 07:29:03 pm I would part out the bad one and utilize the drum and accessories for the machine you're keeping!
Title: Just wondering Post by: firemun on May 31, 2004, 09:48:42 pm Update on this topic:
I went to see the machine and it is a VMC 27, not 27A. The machine was a 1 owner, had been in a family business since new. The machine is clean as pin. I was amazed. The machine also had the pipe stand, the wooden empty crate and the original "return empties here" sign. Couldn't let this one go, got it in the garage at home now. As a side note, the wife even liked, said it would look good in the house. Title: Just wondering Post by: firemun on May 31, 2004, 09:50:29 pm Ooops, forgot to attach the photo.
