Title: Coin Mech on Ideal Slider
Post by: hunter on June 14, 2011, 07:02:34 pm
I have an Ideal Slider with the Frankenstein coin mech. Which way do you turn the key to open this type of unit up. Counter clockwise or Clockwise?    :oh:  I can pick most regular locks but have never tried the round key ones for vending machines. Thought I would give it a shot but would be helpful if I knew which way to turn it.

Thanks
Steve

It would depend on which type of round/tubular ( sometimes called an "ACE" style ) lock it has , most open with a 1/4 turn counter-clockwise...

they have a cam type locking bar & earlier types also have two sliding locking pins that hold the coin-box in place.

I've ofter resorted to grasping the lock's housing with a pair of vice-grip pliers & wrenching the whole housing around to unlock it. and then I replace the lock of course.

Thanks johnieG

It came apart just as you said, and I did have the 2 locking pins as well. Now I need to get a new lock with keys I can find!!!!!!!!!

Thanks
