Title: V-39 insulation question
Post by: thouchins on May 31, 2011, 11:29:33 pm
I'm restoring my V39 and I've removed all the old insulation. What should I buy to replace it with ?

I used R-19 but others may use something else.

Be sure to use unfaced insulation.

You can buy faced insulation just remove the paper. It is much cheaper that way and I have found more selection.

I have wondered if the vapor barrier faced insulation would help control cabinet sweating in humid environments.

I think you would be taking your chances using that type of insulation as it might have the reverse effect and trap moisture where humid air is getting through.  If you were sure you could get the cabinet sealed tightly it might work but if you are leaking any air at all it could cause problems.
