Title: Choc Ola Is Back !!!
Post by: MCarter on May 23, 2011, 05:57:55 pm
INDIANAPOLIS — Two entrepreneurs who relaunched a chocolate-flavored drink called Choc-Ola that’s familiar to many baby boomers are hoping consumers’ taste for nostalgia makes the revived beverage a success.

Choc-Ola is a concoction of water, sugar, low-fat milk, cocoa and a handful of other ingredients that debuted in the 1940s. But the drink had been absent from groceries for a decade.

The Indianapolis Business Journal reports Indianapolis partners Dan Iaria and Joe Wolfla pitched reviving Choc-Ola to Martin’s Super Markets, a 21-store chain in northern Indiana and southern Michigan. That led to a deal to produce the drink at an Anderson plant owned by Prairie Farms Dairy.

This month, Prairie Farms plans to begin distributing Choc-Ola in 18 states in individual-sized bottles and half-gallon jugs, primarily at grocery stores and convenience stores

Thanks for posting that, Matt. I have a few Choc-ola items and would love to be able to put some new product in one of my machines. I know my oldest boy would LOVE it!

I have many fond memories of pulling out an ice cold choc ola and swigging it down, before that you had to shake the bottle a couple of minutes because the chocolate flavoring would settle to the bottom.  You didn't have to worry about it fizzing out when you opened it because it wasn't carbonated.
