I am totally new to this so please forgive me, but I need help in identifying this machine I picked up last weekend. I believe it is a vendo v90, but not totally sure. I picked it up for 100 bucks, and was able to fix the coin mech. with help from posts in this forum :biggrin: Also I would like to convert to bottle machine, but can not find a bottle rack anywhere, or if anyone has can shelves I can buy that word work too! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can't the can stacks also vend bottles?

Thanks, red. And as far as using bottles goes, I did try, the bottle is too long, unless I was doing something wrong.  Is your machine a 90 halehouse?  and is there a template for the white area at the top of the machine?

I don't think so...
On my V-63 with a can stack, there is not enough room between the selector/pull plate and the can pusher at the back. It is either all cans or all bottles on the Vendo's. The Cav USS series machines can do both!

Maybe I should trade up to the cav!

Nope they can not...they are only a deep as a 12-oz. can

If you are converting the machine back to bottles, you'll need the bottle rack, shelves AND the rack mounting posts located behind the rack one at the top & one at the bottom ( they are different heights inso far as can/vs/bottle rack.  see the topic Converting to Cans, this is a V63 but the same principle in reverse..    the topic is "pinned"  to the top of  of the discussion board.

Johnie, thanks for the information, I am still trying to figure out which direction I am going to go in.  I like the idea of cans as they are easier to get, but I can not find can shelves anywhere, which is why I had thought about changing over to bottles.  Or are the shelves the same for both cans and bottles?

Welcome to to the board! There's not much to a can shelf. Easy to make standby's until the real thing shows up. Work to finish today but will post pics and dimensions Fri.

You guys are awesome!! I am trying to prove to my better half that I can actually finish a project (long story there), and the help I am getting is really great. I had thought about using to L brackets, but it just didn't seem like the cans would roll all that great.

True. That's what I was thinking of. My Cavalier with the turn knobs on the rack could vend both.

If you look at the converting from bottles to cans posts, you'll see the difference between the bottle vs can shelves,  can shelves are rather flat compared to bottle shelves, while an "L" bracket will help kept the cans "forward" on the shelf..the bottle shelf has a bit of a lip along the front edge that is there to lift the bottles to help them roll along, this lip will cause cans to shift & jam as they enter the vending port...

Well, I have three can shelves on order, thanks to cokecolaman! However still need 7 more.  Also will probably be starting restoration soon.

If someone can confirm compatibility. I have 2 can shelves for a V-63 - will they fit a V-90?

As far as I know the only difference between the v63 and the v90 is the v63 is a 7 rack and the v90 is a 10 rack, but I believe can shelves are the same.  Confirmation to this would be helpful and appreciated.  If they are the same, how much do you want for them?  I will be half way at that point!

I think they are the same.. a quick length measurement will tell.

Does anybody know the measurements.  I don't have any shelves at the moment, the inner width of my v90 is roughly 22 and 3/4 inches. 

They should fit a v-90/can rack, just as a V-63 shelves are the same for a V-90 square-top

I took a look and mine are not original, but nice reproductions (Approx. 21" overall - Approx. 17.5" actual shelf). No idea who made them as the machine had nine shelves when I bought it (4 original & 5 repros).
According to the loading instructions (see pic), the original shelves sat offset so the rim of the tin can would overlap the other. These repros do not sit flush on the stack with the offset 3rd slot, but do when in the 1st slot. No rim on cans these days, so no need to offset. They should work fine. I'll try to test them with some cans tomorrow. Can post pics if you'd like.

Looks like I got two more shelves (thanks tom), half way there, still need 5 more if anyone out there has can shelves for a v63 or v90

I been scouting around craigslist, ebay .... etc..... no luck so far...........

Have all can shelves ordered... now onto issues with coin mech, which I decided to just buy a new one off ebay.  If someone is looking for coin mech for parts or repair, let me know - here are pics of coin mech.
