Title: How do you fill in holes in a liner?
Post by: brasskey on February 20, 2011, 06:58:03 pm
My liner has some holes in it due to the water fountain that was installed on the side.  These holes are only 1/4", but if I'm going to take the liner out anyway, are there any tips to filling these holes?  Will bondo work?

Most holes I've seen are 3/4" but see if you can find corresponding plugs to insert into the holes. The liner is seldom seen by anyone.
The holes on the outside are the biggest concern. If you cant weld them, bevel the edges, then bond a backing behind them before filling with bondo.

Yeah New Tank .

Are you serious?  I assume that's a joke.  The tank is in great shape.  No bottom rust and clean.  I plan on pulling it and giving it a good clean since I'm repainting the body, but I wouldn't think replacing the tank would be necessary.  It's also not a common tank so it would have to be a custom job and not worth it just for a few holes.

I'll see if I can push the edges back in once I pull it.  They seem to be pretty clean holes so there may not be much metal on the other side.  Thanks for the tip.

Yeah I am joking or just in one of those moods  :glare:
But like glen said plug it,  I would get two stainless steel screws  and bolt them from the inside .

Ace hardware has metal or plastic flat plugs . Just pull your liner and put them in and bend the tabs so it will never fall out . Let me know if you need help . Hope this helps

Wow what are you doing to a Cavalier of that size? I hope your not restoring it for both your back sake and your wallet sake.
