Title: Help with a Vendo 56 bottle door
Post by: Vendo_110 on January 09, 2011, 09:43:38 am
Can someone post a couple of good pics of what the inside of a V56 bottle door looks like?

I had a non-glass door that I am now converting to a glass one.  Therefore, I have no reference material to work with and I am not sure which parts I need to order.

Help me out please!  :help:

Ok quick  question  Sq Top or Round top  ?
Then Second Question  Why convert ?  did you check ebay or ask here  there may be some one here that has a glass door.
I may have one or two for a sq top.

Hi Pat,

I like the look of the glass door

This is a round-top.  I have already restored the door, so its been cut and painted.  Now I just need the parts.

Thanks!

The 56 inside looks exactly like the 81.
The door skin could have been ordered and you can still order the glass panels and the sponge that separates them. I don't recall anyone providing the stainless steel pieces that hold them all together though. I had a sheet metal shop bend some ss into channel, 1" X 3/8" and then I cut it into 4 pieces to fit arount the glass and drilled holes where needed.

Glenn, I dont have a pic of what a V81 looks like either.

The "stainless steel pieces" that you mention,, do you have pics of that?  I just need something to reference.

Since I restored this door skin, I really dont want to buy a whole new glass door.

Sorry for my confusion, but I am still new to this stuff!

thanks!!

Took the door apart on my 81 tonight.  Moondog says its identical to the 56 only taller, so I hope these pics help.  First pic is the top and bottom channel.  They are identical 5-1/2"long, 15/16" wide, with 1/4"lip.  Second and third pics are the side channel, one with the gasket in it and one without.  Same width, 29-15/16" long (for 81, 56 will be shorter).  The "W" shape, starting with the tall side measures as follows: 5/8 down, 1/4" across, 3/8" up, 5/16" across, 3/8" down, 1/4" across, 5/16" up.  The vertical bends have a slight angle to them, they are not at 90°.
