Title: Vendo 80 Post by: Chris on January 08, 2011, 03:42:32 pm Is an original Vendo 80 in amazing shape not running because of bad wiring worth $800?
Title: Re: Vendo 80 Post by: sodahere on January 08, 2011, 04:51:36 pm I can never get more than 500$ in the past 3 years I have sold clean and working.
Title: Re: Vendo 80 Post by: Chris on January 08, 2011, 05:04:07 pm I offered $600 but she wouldn't come off of $800. It was a great looking ORIGINAL machine they have owned since 1958 but I couldn't see $800 in a machine if I don't know if it is in working order.
I paid $400 for one in original condition working a couple of months ago. So I just didn't see $800 in it. Title: Re: Vendo 80 Post by: Jim on January 08, 2011, 08:37:28 pm Good decision; especially if the machine is not functioning.
If you looked at the machine, were you able to test functionality of the refrigeration system and vending cycle...? Title: Re: Vendo 80 Post by: Chris on January 08, 2011, 08:48:24 pm Could not plug in to test anything. I tried to explain to her that if I could test what worked and what didn't I might could offer more $$ but without that I wasn't sure about the vending, coin mech or compressor functions. She said that it was unplugged about 25 years ago when her father had it and she did not know the last time it functioned. It was a beautiful machine though. It was worth $600 to me for just the way it looked.

Old things are only original once. Once they are restored you can never go back.

and imagine that a week after I pass on the Cavalier 96 in Atlanta this pops up. Joey Title: Re: Vendo 80 Post by: bubba on January 08, 2011, 09:39:16 pm Why can't people rotate pictures in an ad??? :darn:
Title: Re: Vendo 80 Post by: zadd on January 08, 2011, 11:28:31 pm I would buy it for that . Looks great !
Title: Re: Vendo 80 Post by: MoonDawg on January 09, 2011, 06:37:23 am All old machines need new wiring and if you take into consideration that stand is worth $200.00, you really got your V-80 for $600.00
Title: Re: Vendo 80 Post by: SIGNGUY on January 09, 2011, 09:08:15 am it is a nice original, and if the stand is included at that 800.. like Glen said, I'd go for it , sell the stand and you have your 600 nice original..
Chances are if that has been stored in that basement or room where it's at for 25 years.. it's just fine.. jsut change out the main power supply and I'll bet you it fires right up and cools.. the coin mech is electronic on it, and can be replaced pretty inexpensively.. Of course it's easy for us to spend your money, but if your willing to go 600.. 800 isnt thta much of a jump .. or chance it and wait a week and go back with 600 -700 cash? either way I think you'll do fine. Title: Re: Vendo 80 Post by: glenp87 on January 09, 2011, 12:14:53 pm He has consistently asked $1200 (or more) for that machine. I have been watching V80's for a year now....same machines come & go until the sellers finally understand where the realistic price point is (or they get a sucker).
Glen Title: Re: Vendo 80 Post by: Chris on January 09, 2011, 12:23:33 pm Glen, you have seen that machine before?
Title: Re: Vendo 80 Post by: glenp87 on January 09, 2011, 01:46:59 pm Yes.....has popped up a few times...appears they could not sell at the previous higher price. There is a $1600 V80 on E-bay right now - over priced,,,but listed for the 3rd or 4th time in the last few months. Funny to watch these high listings expire....then reappear. Problem is it makes those with not so nice machines, like the $500 (at least once repainted) V80 on E-bay think theirs is worth more.
As you know, I am looking for a beat up V80 simply for the Sold out lever (pin & spring) and two rear air ducts - so I an all over V80 listings. Glen Title: Re: Vendo 80 Post by: Chris on January 09, 2011, 02:14:44 pm Well I offered her $600 and she said she had someone else coming to look at it. If she don't sell it to them I might still have a shot at it. I don't think I would go much more than $600
Title: Re: Vendo 80 Post by: collecture on January 09, 2011, 03:15:20 pm I might have a spare set of V-80 rear air ducts. I'll try to dig around this week.
Title: Re: Vendo 80 Post by: glenp87 on January 09, 2011, 03:25:02 pm Great - thank you
Title: Re: Vendo 80 Post by: RC kid on January 10, 2011, 03:47:33 pm I like the machine. It looks real nice for being an unrestored machine. And the Vendo 80s look nice in general. I'd pay $800 for it. Especially if the machine is close by and the rack goes with it.
Title: Re: Vendo 80 Post by: Chedki on January 10, 2011, 04:46:57 pm Price has gone up to $899 !
Title: Re: Vendo 80 Post by: Chris on January 10, 2011, 04:51:05 pm I had her talked down to $800
Title: Re: Vendo 80 Post by: collecture on January 19, 2011, 11:21:23 am Hey Glen,
Here is what I got for the 80. L & R air duct & water fountain cooling coil. Right air duct has been cut off at the bottom to accomodate water fountain lines (see pic) Title: Re: Vendo 80 Post by: glenp87 on January 19, 2011, 11:32:16 am Let me know how much you want for the air ducts....my V80 never had the water fountain so I don't need the coil.
Thanks, Glen |
